Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.
Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.
8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.
After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

Location: 500 ml bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 3/13/11
Aroma: This one has a really nice fresh fruity and hoppy nose, lots of peach, some grapefruit and orange too
Appearance: The pour is a cloudy dark orange-amber color with beige head and medium lace
Flavor: The taste is note quite as fresh and hoppy, nice sweetness, fairly big bitterness
Palate: The body is fairly full it has a somewhat smooth body and a long dry finish
Overall Impression: My 3rd rating from New Zealand, I had to look that up out of curiosity, as I couldn't remember if I'd ever had anything from New Zealand. Well, I had, but nothing nearly this quality. This was a really nice IPA with a lot of citrus (peach) feel to it. Nice stuff, the nose is really the standout here, but I enjoyed the whole beer.

Dark brown. Light smoky meaty (like a smoked ham) semi-dry finish, a very easy drinker.

Pours copper/ruby with a large lasting head.Nose shows big piney, resinous hops along with softer passion-fruit and peach. Underneath is lots of sweet malt with caramel character. Good stuff!First off the mark upon tasting is the same caramel and light toasty malt, with a big piney, resinous hoppy hit taking over soon after. It’s all finished off by a powerful bitterness. Personally I find the bitter a little overwhelming, it has a sharp, almost metallic character to it.Nice moderate carbonation though!

500 ml bottle provided by Meilby. Murky orange body with a thin off-white head. Strong fruity aroma typical grapefruit, and tropical fruits with pine and some caramel. Flavor is dominated by bitterness, citric and tropical fruit, some malt, pine and light caramel. A really fruity and bitter beer that becomes milder in the aftertaste. A bit unusually, quite interesting.

Bottle, shared by meilby. A clear, ruby dark brown beer with a finger-thick off-white to beige head. Meaty, roasted aroma. Some coffee. Roasted flavor with a good dash of meaty smoke malt. Some dark berries too, and a touch of bitterness. Medium body, smooth. Tasteful, lasting bitterness. A nice one indeed, pleasant as a porter, pleasant as a smoked beer. 110301

Bottle. An almost clear one, amber in color and with a small, beige head. Fruity, peachy nose with grapefruit, a cellary maltyness and some hints of alcohol. Some bitterness sting, a touch of alcohol and fruity, peachy flavors. Full body, pleasant low carbonation. Lasting bitterness and peachy, piney flavors. A nice one, the aroma being a bit unusual and feeling slightly unclean. The flavor is the best part, like it. 110301
