Thin creamy off white head stayed on a copper coloured body, Medium bodied, light over the tongue with a dry clean back. Malt, tea, rye, caramel & raisin tastes with a bitter finish. A bit mixed up but decent enough.

Bottle.Dark ruby colour with small head.Aroma is vinous and sweet of dark dried fruit honey caramel and chocolate nice warming taste nice note of leather and jam nice by style.

Keg @ Gulliver's, Manchester. Somewhat cloudy dark amber with a creamy head. Its smokiness is evident in aroma, but much more stated in taste where there's a fusion with a paler style too.

Cask @ Gulliver's, Manchester. Clear dark amber with a thick creamy-frothy head. Nice dryish hop, but not particularly a stated brown in style - but good traditional ale taste.

2015 bottle from warm shelf drunk 2/9/24. Clear caramel. Smattering of beige head. Herbal-grass notes in the nose are weird, maybe something to do with the calvados? Light pepper, other distilled phenols? Regardless of all that, there's a load of oxidation, unsurprisingly, given its filtration, pasteurization and warm shelving. Some rum raisin, caramel, lots of cardboard. At least it's malty with a good texture. Warm raisins and toffee-caramel ward off a good deal of oxidation. Light liquor on the finish redolent of Calvados, I guess, though I'd never be able to pick it out blind. Pepper, spice, not boozey.
