Description
Maplewood opened with the mission to push liquid boundaries in an unassuming building nestled in Chicago’s historic Logan Square neighborhood.
The first of its kind to establish brewing and distilling roots under a single roof, Maplewood has been producing finely crafted beer and spirits out of their 10BBL brewhouse and 250L Kothe hybrid still since 2014. Three years after moving into the production facility, Maplewood opened the Lounge, a neighborhood bar doubling as a cocktail parlor and brewery taproom. Beginning commercial distribution throughout Illinois shortly after settling into the Logan Square space, Maplewood has since expanded their distribution footprint into Missouri, SW Michigan, Northern Indiana, Wisconsin and Kansas. Maplewood’s patrons have come to expect expertly crafted beer in a wide range of styles.

Lots of lemon citrus and some orange peel. Clear golden pour with lots of soap suds. Bitter finish, light to medium body. Good stuff. Can.

From Brewvana, canned August 8th 2022.
It pours a clear pale gold with a finger of foam, lacing is meager.
The smell is toasted malt, hops that are not vibrant for a dry hopped Pilsner. Age did that.
The taste has some dry hopped semblance for sure. Toasted malt is nice, the hops, though, have a sharpness to them that I don't favour. It's very dry with a fairly light body.
It was probably quite pleasing when it was fresh.

From Brewvana. Canned December 19th 2022.
It pours a clear gold colour with a good head of foam, nice lacing and head retention is very good.
The smell is citrus, honey, hint of caramel and grain.
The taste is lovely but mild grapefruit citrus, honey, maybe some lemon..yes.
It has an excellent balance and is so easy drinking.
Medium bodied, smooth, just a fine example of the style.

16oz can. OK enough. Has that not quite well attenuated sweet feel that I get in most Central State made product. Because of that sweet, sugary feel, this drinks as much like a Brown Ale as is does a Vienna Lager. Not quite nailing it.

16oz can. Crappy aroma.odd oily black malt tones, almost mildly infected tone..not sure what causes this off tone but I see it a lot in lesser brewers...sorry Central State. Roasty...drinks as much like a Stout as a Dark Lager. Pretty unimpressive...that was the can rate from years back..now for the more recenttap at DU rate.. Not really a great example of the style but better than the previous rate. Not really on the same level as its peers at this point. OK, but not impressive. 6-3-6-3-13

Clear straw body, thick, puffy cream head leaving curtains of lacing. Aroma mixed fruits, including pineapple, peach, and white grape, with some light cattiness. Body moderately sweet with kiwi, pineapple, white grape, grapeskin, and a touch of pear.

Single can from Binny's. Hazy golden beer color under a bubbly white head. Juicy citrus and resin nose. Taste is pleasant, fruitiness from the hop blend, but still some prickly bitterness against a rather light malt profile.
