Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a murky dark brown with minimal cream head. Malty biscuits in the aroma with traces of chocolate. Liquorice is the initial sensation in the mouth, together with molasses and chocolate. Some dark fruits too, and overall it’s fairly sweet. Finish is both smoky and bready – so I guess burnt toast ?! Quite interesting – a little different from yer standard porter.
