Keg draught at the Fox Cub, Leicester. Light Amber and clear with a small and quickly dissipating white head with good lacing. Light Hop, metallic, some caramel and a gluey aroma. Taste is sweet, more glue, some resin. Light body with seriously heavy carbonation. Not all that keen. Considering Charnwood, the non alcoholic beer world has changed, you can do better!!

Cask at Brunswick, Derby. Pours “bitter brown” with minimal cream head and good lacing. There’s lactose and malts in the aroma plus some hoppy hints. In the mouth in fluctuates between bitter and sweet – with the latter winning out eventually. Flavour has malts, traditional hops, lactose and autumn fruits. Finish is slightly dry. This is reasonable – though somewhat thin.

500ml bottle bought from the Offie, Leicester and drunk at home. Very dark brown, opaque with a tiniest bit of khaki head. Ground filter coffee in the aroma, with light wooden and chocolate notes. Sweet taste, just enough coffee to give it character. Delectable bitterness in the finish. Medium to full body, carbonation on the heavy side. Good all in all.

Hand pulled pint on Tuesday evening 21st January 2025: Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough. Pale golden body, clean. clear and bright, white crown on top. Fruity with a slight citrus leaning, light white wine notes too. Decent malt content for balance, easy drinking pint!
