Keg at Fierce. It pours essentially black with a rugged tan head. The aroma is toasty, smooth roast, cacao, milk chocolate, coffee, mocha, rocky road, light vanilla, toasted nut and praline. The taste is initially fairly smooth, then dries out, toasted nut, roasted malt, some umami, earthy, chewy, toothy, cacao nibs, leathery, tannin and some black bun with a drying, dark roast finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Decent toasty Scottish style ale.

Keg at Fierce Bar, Aberdeen. It pours clear golden with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, piney, zippy citrus, grapefruit, lemon verbena, pomelo, biscuit and bread. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, clean malt base, punchy bitterness, touch green, pine needles, pithy citrus, grapefruit, pomelo and lemon with a drying finish. Light to average carbonation and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Bright and airy. Chuggable.

Can picked up at Lidl Bucksburn in Aberdeen. It pours hazy golden - orange with a fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, orange peel, orange blossom, tangerine, green, grassy, slight weedy/herbal and apricot. The taste is firmly dry, bitterness which quickly dissipates, pithy, zesty, orange peel, tangerine, kumquat, orange blossom, slightly floury bread, clean, airy malt and a touch green, herbal with dry finish. Light body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Bright and chuggable.

Can from Aldi. Hazy golden body with a white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of orange and flower petals. Flavour of orange and cornflakes. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. A decent IPA for a very reasonable price.

330ml can via Beer52; drank at home while cooking our evening meal on Friday evening 6th February 2026. If Mexican Lagers have a lime like flavour and a salty feel, then it's OK. Clean and bright golden body, short lived white head. Actually I've had enough Mexican Lagers to know this is a decent attempt at one.

Ayrshire Coastal Walking Mini Break Beer#18. Had with a snack after passing the Fisherton Bay waterfall. Not feeling its strength, it has lightly sweetened tropical fruits in both aroma and taste, which are not too stated in taste within the brew.

Ayrshire Coastal Walking Mini Break Beer#21. They've done a great job with the orange coloured and the sugary sweetened 'pop' taste of the Scottish soft drink, so I guess it's down to acquired taste for the end user. Has a sugary aroma too.

Ayrshire Coastal Walking Mini Break Beer#16. Bought at the supermarket at the most northern point of the day's walk, to Troon, and non-chilled. Hazy, with a sweet tropical fruit taste that's quite sugary too. It gets to candy-sweet levels of sugar in aroma. Its carbonation is also fairly evident in gassiness.

Ayrshire Coastal Walking Mini Break Beer#15. Bought this one to go with a snack at the ruins of Kilwinning Abbey. Has stated chocolate notes in both aroma and taste, with quite a lot of coconut in the mix too. The sum of its parts has a richness about it.
