Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Cloudy amber with a tight white head; floury grainy aroma; some citrus to start - a sweetish milky body, with some sour grains; and a malty finish with perhaps a touch of coriander. A pleasant summer beer.

Cask at Grape & Grain. It pours hazy golden with no head. The nose is wheat, earthy, dough and some ripe soft fruit. The taste is earth, wood, hay, wheat, sweet fruitiness, melon, grape and apricot with a dry finish. Medium busy and pretty much no carbonation. Interesting flavour profile.... Not sure if this is right.

[Bottle from Pallants of Arundel] Pours a deep ruby-brown with a moderate cream head. Medium carbonation - rather fizzy for the style. Plenty of smoke up front, then a good coffee base with slight liquorice hints and a light earthy bitterness. Decent flavor, but the mouthfeel is too thin and fizzy and the finish is on the short side.

Cask gravity at Tenterden BF 2012. Standard blonde ale. Nettle leafy and fairly decent.

Cask at La Gothique - London. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. Light tangy hay nose. Very tangy flavor - almost tastes infected. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish with more tang, faint hay and toasty dough. A pretty poor effort, this.

Not quite black, but very dark red with a small bubbly head. It could easily be mistaken as a porter with its roasted malts which ooze of chocolate and coffee in both aroma and taste.

Copper golden in colour with a frothy head. Has a hoppy aroma but a more cereal like malt for its favour with a bitterness.

Golden with a very small head and slight fruity orange aroma. Has a mild fruitiness in its flavour and sips down easily.

On cask at The Post & Telegraph (JDW) shortly after the finish of the six nations championship. Between golden and ruby in colour with a frothy head. It’s bitter in character with a sweet nose although less so in its taste.

Golden with an orange glow. It doesn’t have much of a head but has plenty of nose with grapefruit evident. In term of taste some of the fruit is evident but it also has a gritty malty and biscuit like flavour that lingers in the palate. Very crisp and certainly easy to drink.
