Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 15/09/12. Clear russet/reddish brown with a thin white head that soon thins. Sweet caramel malts on the nose, toffee, plums, a little wood. Tastes of caramel, toffee, dark fruits. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a bitter finish. Decent enough drop and would re-visit.

Cask dispense at the Half Moon, Windlesham (Feb ’12). Pours a dark mahogany brown with a thin beige / off-white head. Chocolate, roasted malts and dried fruit aroma. Well balanced flavours in the taste, molasses, dried fruits, a little spice, slighty musty tasting, biscuity and roasted malts in the background with a hint of chocolate and coffee. I enjoyed the mouthfeel of this beer, carbonation quite moderate with a slightly burnt/smoked flavour in the aftertaste with a sour edge. Overall a very pleasant winter beer that warms the palate.

(Cask at Kitty’s, 20120606) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was small, dense, long lasting and white. Aroma had grass, mildly sourness, malts and toffee. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, toffee, sweetness, grass, sourness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. Etiher the cask had gone bad or the this beer is just not good.
