Description
Chalk Hill Brewery was formed in 1993 by Bill Thomas, Tiny Little and David Blake – a group of friends with a shared interest in sailing, and beer. It now stands as the longest running independent brewery in Norwich!

The brewery was named after the surrounding area which was previously known as Chalk Hill, and is now Rosary Road. The brewery is a custom built 15 barrel plant and brews a selection of permanent and seasonal real ales. The brewery supplies it’s beer to local pubs including The Coach and Horses which is on the same site as the brewery.

Cask@Coach & Horses, Norwich. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruity, wooden, herbal and also has some mild sweet maltyness. Flavour is fruity, wooden, caramelly and quite herbal. Fruity and wooden long aftertaste.

Cask@The Alexandra Tavern, Norwich. Amber colour, small head. Aroma is sweet malts, wood, mild resin and sap along with mild sweet fruityness. Flavour is fruity, wooden, mildly spicy and nutty as well. Ends in a quite sweet malty way with mild nuttyness.

Cask@The Alexandra Tavern, Norwich. Pale copper colour, small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some floral notes as well as mild wooden and herbal notes. Flavour is quite much the same in a nice balance. Sweet caramel malty finish.

Cask@The Alexandra Tavern, Norwich. Golden colour, small white creamy head. Aroma is fruity, nectary and mildly malty as well. Flavour is fruity, wooden, nectary and also has some pleasant herbal notes to it. Wellbalanced and leaves a nice fruity finish and aftertaste.

Cask at GBBF 2011. Dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits, brown sugar and licorice. Dry and roasted flavour with fruity and caramel notes

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 2. Pours ruby-brown with a tight, foam head. Dark fruits and subtle dark malts in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor, some doughy malts and toast, dark fruits, hints of brown sugar. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Sweet, dark sugar finish, with restrained dark fruits, light roast and cocoa. Great stuff. Really right on target.

Cask @ GBBF, 2011. Pours black with no head. Bread, roast, caramel and ashes. Medium and smooth body. Dry end.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A red brown beer with no head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt as well as a light note of sulphur. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and chocolate sauce, as well as a lighter note of sulphur, leading to a dry finish.
