--- Beer merged from original tick of Double Espresso on 18 May 2018 at 09:43 - Score: 6

On tap at the Bockbier Festival in Amsterdam. Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of spices and bread with a hint of raisins underlying. Flavor has a good amount of spice and bread with a bit of raisin coming out in the finish.

Bottled as Broeder Jacob Dubbel Port, BB 17/04/14, large sample. Hazy dark ruby color, medium rocky brown head. Aroma is very spicy of stuff like ginger and cardamom or simliar stuff, slight fruity, molasses, sugary, cherry chocolates, hint of marzipan, limoncello? (I sometimes have strange associatons :P). Quite sweet taste with quite some fruit and a little bit of spices. It sounds horrible, but its nothing like a fruit beer (nor like a port though), but maybe a mix between a xmas beer, a double and a fruit beer. Usually I hate this kind of blends, but although its quite unbalanced, I do like it a bit. Sometimes in the nose, it gives a hint of an aged chimay bleu, but then you take a sip and its way too sugary sweet. So there aroma and taste dont match. Weird brew that gets better every sip, which I would have expected the other way around.

Tasty bock beer with fresh notes of cinnamon and anise. Bit different than the usual bock.

One of the many Belgian tripels. Grainy, spicey and some notes of fruit. Just decent.
