Bottle at The Fiddler, Den Haag. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a thin off white head. The aroma is of yeast and citrus fruit. The flavour is medium bitter, with lots of yeast, acidic citrus fruit and a little alcohol on the crisp but smooth palate. Quite refreshing but there isn’t a lot between this and the Espresso.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from ALBO. BBF 25/06/2016. Hazy wheat golden with a flimsy white head. Nose is phenolic, estery, slightly alcoholic, soapy with some spices. Bitter slightly grainy taste, slightly soapy, very fizzy, slight yeast, empty, vague light lemon candy, slightly sweet boozy finish. Very high carb. making this beer quite effervescent. Meh.

Tap at the Leuven Festival. Fruity nose, caramel, coffee. Brown-orange color, tall head. Flavors of coffee, fruit, spice, chocolate. Light but fill. Nice bitter finish. The right amount of coffee. Like a coffee dubbel.

2012 Vintage. 33 cl. bottle @ home as “Broeder Jacob Double Port”. Procured from ALBO. BBF 27/02/2016. Dark brown mahogany mixed with dark red and an immediately vanished coffee head. Nose is liquorish foremost with some dark fruits, church wine touch, slight nice oxidation. Taste is quite a bit of liquorish, slight anise, bitter herbs, finish is quite warming, far above the ABV, Porto warming, slight church wine / red grapes feel, slightly alcoholic dark fruits, slightly sweetish. Body is far lighter than something like this needs. Not a bad attempt at something else, although from the label I gather that they just poured some Porto on it as opposed aged it on Porto barrels. Not as good as I hoped that it would be.
