(Draught at De Paas, Den Haag, 21 Feb 2013) Reddish brown colour with creamy pale brown head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit and coffee. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dried fruit, raisins, prunes and a touch of coffee in a finish with a gentle bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. The coffee character stays in the background, making this quite well balanced. Nice one.

Draft at De Paas. Pours clear brown with a tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, toffee, coffee, chocolate and cough medicine. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. Old yellow with a thin dense white head. Sweet yeasty aroma with some spices (ginger?). Taste is overdominated by the used herbs and spices, leaving a very articifical experience. Lively carbonation and a bittersweet aftertaste

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. Reddish brown with a rather big dense beige head. Sweet caramel aroma with some black berries. Taste is bittersweet but the berries tend to dominate all. Aftertaste is nicely bitter. Bit of an odd beer, not very balanced.

Tap sample at In de Wildeman. Clear dark copper to brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of Christmas spices, brown sugar, candied fruits, amber malts, ground coffee. Flavour is likewise, with a nice coffee flavour and good bitterness. Light to medium-bodied. Decent Belgian Strong Ale, came across as a Belgian winter ale with coffee added. Nowhere near a stout as stated here on RB, that must be a mistake.

Draught Gushing to very fine & dense beige/yellow head over copper-chestnut beer. Coffee, roasted, mocha, sweetish smelling. Pure coffeebeans, if sweet - like the chocolate coffeebeans in the sweetshop. Finish is however empty. Medium bodied, quite slick and obviously very well-carbonated. Better as feared, but nowhere remarkable.

Deep red - amber beer, small pale tan head. Light palate, a little crisp and quite frothy. A little creamy caramel malt. Nice tangy fruits - distinctly cherry. Lesser notes of peach. Trace of blackcurrant. Finishes dry - tasty little number.

Clear amber beer, good sized cream coloured head. Softish palate, a little dry. Nice tang to this tripel. Creamy sweet malt with a little sweet peach sherbet and other tropical fruits. Semi dry finish. A tasty and decent tripel!

On tap at De Wiering, Leuven. Wouldn’t call this a dubbel. Deep dark brown colour, creamy off-white head. Aroma is very sweet, malty, red and dark fruits, bubblegum, raisins, molasses, spices like star anise, amber malts. Flavour is very sweet, caramel, molasses, dark and red fruits, light spice, sweet star anise and alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied. Too sweet for me, but a nice dessert beer I guess.
