Dark blond with thick soapy head. Aroma is a bit like lemonade (7-up), it’s citric and sweet. Flavour has a fructose, sherbert like taste that is very sweet and acidic. Also has a flavour of aniseed and lime.

MF: soft scarbon, medium body, creamy textue. Taste: lots of coffee, mocha, little sweet, some chocolate. Aftertaste: coffee, more coffee, pretty bitter ending.

Bottle thx to joes. Brown with some ruby red colour, decent off-white head. Smells iron, sweet, malts. Tastes sweet, malty. Bit boring. Low carbo, medium body.

Very strange stout. This beer tastes like a mokka coffee with a lot of milk. Sweet and bitter, but also very creamy.

Served as Broeder Jacob Double Port
Hazy brown cola colour, off-white head. Aroma of wood, red fruits, caramel, anise, yeast, light banana. Quite pronounced metallic iron. Rather sweet flavour, sticky dates, caramel, light wood astringency. Light sour notes. Finish caramel, light wood, liquorice and dried red fruits.
Supposedly 5yo porto (tawny) is added to the brew, but it’s influence is mild to say the least.

Bottled 330ml (BZ, BB 05/2013)
Clear nice amber color, good white head. Aroma has spices (ginger, oregano?), wet dishcloth, bread and metal. Medium to full bodied. Spices don’t dominate so much the flavor but ginger and oregano are there, sweetish fruity, almost sugary. Typical Belgian tripel yeastyness. Herbs and sweetness don’t work very well together.

sampled 75 cl. bottle @ Black Fré’s Forest BBQ // amber brown with a small beige head // smells rather sweet, fruity dark fruits, touch berries, some toffee, malts // sweet, dark fruits, malts, berries, touch fake fruitiness, getting soma cola/molasses, toffee, candy spices // carb. definitely takes it down, far too heavy, ruins the flavour & bit & takes this a notch down, malts are a touch sticky // might have been better / okayish

Broeder Jacob Double Port 9% 54B
Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. Pours mahogany with dark tan head. The aroma delivers some caramel malts notes and sort of a rock candy sugar odor followed by a bit of sun dried cherries. The taste has some dark roasted malts mixing with caramel and candy sugars. Interesting kind of overly sweet without much to balance it out or add interest.
