Description
Sixpoint was founded in 2004 (we like to say it was born at the dawn of civilization, though that’s a story for another time…) in the rough and tumble neighborhood of Red Hook, BKLYN. It was essentially a cult brewery — draft-only, mysterious, cryptic…

In 2010 we released our canned creations, and have been tweaking, improving, and releasing new formulations ever since. Then in May of 2017, we took our biggest step forward to date, releasing all of our ales raw and unfiltered, and simultaneously incorporating new and incredible raw materials obtained over years of sourcing.

In November 2018, Sixpoint was acquired by Artisanal Brewing Ventures.

I had a glass on draft at Against the Grain last night. Poured a rich orange hue with a thick, longstanding white head. Strong hop aroma, which is echoed in the beer’s taste. Also contains notes of orange. Sweet and a bit earthy, the Bengali is lovely and rewarding to drink.

Had a cup on draft at PS1. Poured an extremely hazy gold with a thick, foamy white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus and mild hops. Tasted sweet and a bit spicy, notes of orange and yeast, and slight hops. Finishes smooth with a crisp aftertaste. A good beer.

An amber wit with a super thick off white head. Very pleasant aroma of ginger, c-hops, and cloves. In mouth, a nice balanced belgian ale with light ginger notes. Medium bodied. Far from the typical wit. Tap at BCTC 2009.

A dark amber IPA with a thin white head. In aroma, pungeant c-hops, with mentol notes. In mouth, a musty bready malt with loads of c-hops, mentol, rich and harsh. Tap at BCTC 2009.

I thought this beer was delicious. Poured a hazy amber. Nose of grains and citrus. A lovely, sweet taste with strong notes of fruit and hops, along with a healthy dose of hops. The brew felt great to drink and my friend and I both remarked at how we needed to restrain ourselves from chugging.

Growler I filled up @ BCTC. Color is thick but clear dark copper orange. Aroma is obviously full of hops but its also got a thick maltiness but not in the caramel sweetness that I hate. The hops are stingy green with sweet tropical fruits and the malt is a light syrup. It actually works decently well together. Some heat mixes in there to spice it up as well. Flavor is a spiky orange marmalade, which is a combination of the hops (fruit), malts (sweet) and alcohol (spike). A strong bitterness really helps offset some of this. Some light tea and a faint cleaning product as well. Its good stuff and works in the big sense. However, its not centered well and is a bit all over the place. I would like a more concentrated in a specific direction kind of brew. But for being allover the place it still fun. The Belgian yeast acts a bit as a muddle-er, adds to the syrupiness, not as clean and a thicker, murkier flavor.

growler–pours a rich white head that laces and copper color. Aroma is medium malt, spice/resin hops. Taste is sweet light malt-caramel, herbal hops up front then mid/late palate very thin for the first pint. By second pint a bit thin/light body. Can for rerate-thanks JamesMr Porhouse

Pours a cloudy brown with head that leaves lacing (but I really only got the lacing because the bartender poured it without any head). Sugary and fruity hops aroma. As one expects with IPAs, hops should dominate and this beer does not dissapoint in that regard. The hops are more on the citrus side of things than they are on the piny side of things, but that doesn’t stop this beer from exhibiting an array of earthy undertones. Unlike some IPAs, this one doesn’t really leave that bitter aftertaste, or at least it didn’t for me. Overall, really smooth and really drinkable and makes no compromises with flavor.

Growler from St. James Beverage - nose of citrus and earthy hops, buttered bread and light honey - light, but still fairly creamy in the mouth - the anticipated sixpoint hop profile is there, but you want that in this beer - the hops are spicy and herbal - these are balanced by a light sweetness and notes of toast, and even a light nuttiness - a straightforward and tasty pale ale.

Shared by JoeMcPhee at Peter’s NY gathering. I have now learned I do not like wormwood and this beer was all wormwood. Strongest in the aroma but still too much in the flavor. But a pretty looking orange/amber brew that glows.
