Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 2 - 01/03/14. Murky mahogony brown with a well appointed tan covering. Nose is bitter fruits, boozey pangs, woody, rich toffee, light spice. Taste comprises ripe fruits, light tropicana, caramelised pineapple chunks, dark toffee, light spice, boozey pangs, caramelised sugars, hoppy backnoes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet closure with a trace of booze. Ok stuff, Americanised hoppy twist so not too true to style.

Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 2 - 01/03/14. Dark mahogony brown with a big old light tan covering. Nose is light roast, cocoa, dark toffee. Taste comprises sweeter chocolate tones, tangy dark berry fruit, brown sugar, light roastings. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so, not much depth but drinkable none the less.

Rcvd in trade.
The appearance has a dark brown close to black colored body with a slim half fingered white foamy head that dies within about a minute and leaves some nice clingy foamy lacing sticking nicely to the glass
The smell has a deep dark sweet aromatic syrupy malts with elements of cherries, plums, apples, brown sugar, maple syrup and I think I get some light molasses in there at the end, however, I have to admit there’s a nice element of spice (coriander perhaps but its not as detectable as I had hoped as to what spice).
The taste has a sticky malty sweetness coating my mouth and tongue prominently with a super sticky plum/cherry-like aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, it sits about a medium to heavy on the body and is sessionable - not really more of a sipper. Carbonation is pretty smooth and runs across my mouth and tongue very well - very smooth that wants to lead to a decent creaminess.
Overall, this is an exceptionally well done Quad to me as I know I would have this again.
