Bottle 750ml.Clear light medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, grain, wheat, moderate yeasty. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average duration, grain, pale malt, spicy hint. No much going on ! Body is medium to light, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20131122]

Pours a nice medium golden color. Fairly cloudy. Medium just barely off-white head. Good retention. Aroma is a nice mix of fresh malt, saison yeastiness and light fruitiness. I’m getting green grapes, white wine, peaches, blueberries, apples. Honey. Malt flavor is bright and fairly sweet. Mild pepper. Some very light funk. Mildly herbal. Taste starts fairly sweet with a good dose of honey-ish malt. Then, some apricot and grape fruitiness kicks in. Finally, the beer finishes with some drier yeast notes and a bit of lemony, floral hops. Lightly effervescent with some decent body to the beer. Tasty enough, but it’s mostly well-trod territory. I remember liking Renaud a bit more, though I think this one is a touch more fruity. Still, it’s a solid, well-made saison.

Pours deep clear gold into a tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Chardonnay, vanilla and oak aromas. Crisp with sweet caramel and oak upfront turing to grape in the lasting finish. White wine barrels produce the best of the Mystic offerings...

White head against a very sunny orange body. Head recedes slowly to cover, clarity is medium to medium-high.
Nose is blueberries? Is this one of these things where you see that it’s brewed with blueberry skin yeast and so you’re expecting blueberries and you project them in to the nose and flavor? I don’t know, but it smells like blueberries and raspberries. Fresh and authentic, though, with soft, floral hops (heather, light thyme) and a soft pale maltiness. Very subtle aroma, even the blueberry notes are not powerful. Surprised there isn’t any acidity or more typical Belgian esters, but nonetheless, it still works fine. Reminds me more of an American golden ale brewed with blueberries, FWIW.
Sweet malts and tart berry notes open the flavor, which exhibits very low carbonation both to style and overall. Carbonation could certainly be more engaging, which would help with the somewhat sweet, sugary fruit and residual sugar flavors. I will say, it’s very interesting that there are no actual blueberries in this, but regardless, this needs to be more dry, more tart or more carbonated. It’s pleasant, but very underwhelming. I do appreciate that when you see a special release that boasts of being fermented with wild blueberry yeast, it’s hard to keep your expectations low, but nonetheless, it’s just too sweet.
