Description
As San Diego's first and only Brewery/Winery/Restaurant, we pride ourselves on putting everything we have into the things we do and push the boundaries of creative products to share with our guests.
Our beers are focused on drinkability, merging inspirational flavors from our restaurant and winery to create one of a kind products.
Our tasting room is attached to our restaurant, The Cork and Craft. We're open every day except for Monday, including lunch during the work week, and brunch on Sundays. We not only offer our own beers on tap, but many other guest beers from around the world that we share our 40 taps with. We feature flights of our own beers which can be enjoyed in the bar, restaurant or on our heated outdoor patio.
Come in for the beer, stay for the food, and discover your Abnormal side.

Coconut, coffee and vanilla bean stout by Abnormal in collaboration with J. Wakefield, draught at Dok Brewing Company; apparently somewhat of a 'hit' in San Diego so I guess I'm lucky to be able to sample this here in Belgium... Moussy, lightly lacing, pale yellowish beige, opening head on a black beer with hazy ruddy-burgundy edges. Intense, very beguiling bouquet of chocolate liqueur, kalhua, toasted coconut, vanilla beans, cognac, raw cinnamon, figs soaked in rum, wet leather, walnuts, hazelnut oil, dry pipe tobacco, Tia Maria, hot black coffee but the coffee aspect remains more subtle than the vanilla and - to a slightly lesser extent - the coconut additions. Intense onset, sweet candied dates, raisins, condense and medium carbonated, very thick, full and oily mouthfeel as is to be expected from an imperial stout; thick chocolatey, toffeeish and densely hazelnutty malts, stretching all over the palate, adorned with a more delicate vanilla flavour and toasty coconut aspects, but not descending too much in pastry stout territory; lovely coffee liqueur-like 'wave' in the finish, adding subtle and aromatic bitterness to a sweet-and-roasty finish heated by lots of brandy-like, but non-astringent alcohol. Very American style 'impy' indeed but within that league, clearly a very refined, intense and well-balanced one, boozy as expected but in an elegant manner; can give a lot of other such flavoured imperial stouts a run for their money.

16 oz can from Tavour. Aroma is cantaloupe, pineapple, citrus rind, dank. Pours murky yellow with a one finger off-white head with decent retention. Taste has nearly zero bitterness, moderately sweet, very juicy. Nice beer.

Pours rather unclear blonde. Smell is pine, fresh. Taste is sharp, pine, bitter malty, intense. Refreshing. Very nice. Milder fruity notes. Typical Westcoast style, with a bit more haze.

Tap at dok brewing. Pours clear blonde. No head. Smell is typical peppery phenols, but rather subtile. In comparancy to the known Belgian examples. Taste is phenolic, rather bitter, mildly plastic ( perhaps a bit to warm fermented? Ever so slightly though!) misses the crisp, refreshing maltyness as well. By far the least abnormal to date for me.

Tap at dok. Pours black, small tanned ring of foam. Smell is mil, some lactose perhaps. Taste is medium full, roasty, caramel, mild ashy, lactose. Creamy. Tad bitter. Nice. Of course not of the same craze as their imperial stout, but still. Lovely drinkin beer.

16 oz can from tavour. This only has a minor haze to it, but it does have a nice thick fluffy head. They've clearly called this a West Coast IPA, and it does vary from the normal New England Style. Hops are a little bit more pronounced and a little bit more bitter than your typical Citrus varieties. Light bitterness and not quite juicy. All around a pretty decent beer.

Pours black, small ring of dark head. Smell is sharp, cinnamon, bit boozy, no real whisky or cocoa here. Taste is soft, creamy, cinnamon, mild chocolate undertone. Bourbon only pops up in the aftertaste. As feared, the cinnamon simply ruins the beer to me. It is really loud to me, and usually overtakes all other aspects of the beer. Medium thick to thick body, average Carbo for a US imperial stout ( which seems rather high for pastry). A good beer, that much is sure. But I'd like it so much more without the cinnamon
