Bottle at GBBF 2014. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, cocoa, vanilla, dried fruits, candy, mild spice and toffee. The taste is rich roast, earth, cocoa, wood, decent bitterness, fudge, dark chocolate, warming alcohol and dirt with a dry, woody finish. Fullish body and fine carbonation. Decent impy.

Total Wine, Delaware 12ounce: Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, booze, and plenty of roast. Taste is not all that bitter, nor is it particularly sweet. It is rather very roasty and full of coffee flavors. Rich chocolate taste abounds. Alcohol well covered, but it is certainly noticeable. Body is pretty heavy.

Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, molasses, light char/smoke, raisin, plum, herbal, grass, light pine, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, molasses, light char/smoke, raisin, plum, herbal, grass, light pine, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of pine/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, toast, dark bread, molasses, light smoke, raisin, plum, herbal, light pine, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted/bready malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate yeast fruitiness; with a great roasted malt bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial stout. All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, earthy hops, and light yeast fruitiness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

On Tap at the Boise PreFunk Deep muddy dark brown in the tulip Thin but creamy light tan head. Soft coffee and mostly chocloately light roast flavors. Some ABV notes in there as well. Smooth feel, soft carbonation and a mild roasted flavor. Maybe under bittered but it is an easy stout overall and not a harsh bitter monster like others. Sneaky 9.5%

This was poured into a pint glass.
The color is a clear light copper with a super light carbonation seen rising at a moderate pace. There was a one finger white rocky foamy head that dies into a two filmy valleys.
The aroma has some light grapefruit to light lemon/citrus. There’s also some light piney spice going on.
The taste is mainly bitter through the hop content of the grapefruit, lemon/citrus and the piney spice. Are the malts even there? Yes, but extremely subdued.
On the palate, this one sat fairly light packing a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seems to be right on for the IPA style. There is a slight bitter pine aftertaste and a dry finish.
Overall, session IPA, damn well it is. Way to go, No-Li. I’d take it again with burgers or pizza.

Extra marks for a perfect appearance, beautiful orange copper color with towering rocky lasting head. Soft citrus / grapefruit aroma, more citrus in the taste, plus some pine/hops, a hint of toffee. Mellow lingering bitterness on the finish. A nice IPA, without going overboard on the bitterness.

Draft - Light toasted malts and some caramel. Clear dark copper with a nice beige head. Sweet woody caramel, with some maple notes. Bitter but nice finish. Interesting, but nice.

Bottle. Sweet orange malt and strong alcohol/acetone aroma. Hazy amber with small head. Sweet orange/peach malt and light bitter herbal orange peel flavor. Thankfully doesn’t taste nearly as harsh as the aroma.

12oz bottle pours with a nice dark colored body that supports a dark tan head. The aroma offers up a nice load of dark roasted malts and chocolate malts as well as thin slivers of spicy hops. The taste has a pleasing mix of pine hops to slightly citrus hops before it quickly rolls into dark roasted malts, a bit of burnt malts and then a tasty dose of chocolatey goodness. Dang, this is nice.
