We are a Cornish Craft Beer brewery, based on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Using our own Spring water, combined with the finest modern hops to create punchy powerful beers. We've been brewing since 2008 and have exported to half a dozen countries.

Penpont is a microbrewery which produces cask ales and bottled beers, using a mixture of modern and traditional British brewing techniques.

Between 2016 and 2019 the name Altarnun Brewing was used.

Bottle from the Bottle Bank. Appearance - deep but clear amber with a decent head. Nose - mainly lemon notes. A hint of pale malt. Taste - toffee and citrus. Biscuits too but dominated by the toffee. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - decent ale.

330 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany with no appreciable head. Aromas of brown sugar, malt extract, and raisins. Flavors of are similar with emphasis on sweet toasty malts but with a bit of an earthy light bitter finish. Definite impression of a cask ale but nothing special. 3

Bottle. Golden-brown, and bright. The aroma is very fruity, appley, bit of bubblegum, just very sweet nose. On the palate, there is an earthy bitterness, a touch of golden syrup. The fruity notes blend with more alcoholic, vinous character. Better balanced on the palate than in the aroma. Hint of diacetyl in the finish, the warmer it gets. Strong, but overall I’m not sure the direction is one I like.

Cask-conditioned at the Victoria, Clifton Lido, Bristol 29/10/2014. Chestnut in colour with a decent, off-white, head. Sweet, bready malts and dried fruits, a touch of caramel, leafy hops and gentle finish. Good.

Bottle - Caramel, twig and earthy hops. Clear copper with a decent white head. Caramel malts, light woody twig notes and a bitter finish. Missing the ’old ale’ aspect and more like a bitter.

Appearance: Dark amber colour with a small beige head.
Aroma: Caramel, dried fruit, malt.

From cask. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off white head. Aroma is toasted malty. Breadish. Bitter, toasted malty and light breadish. Toasted dry and malty finish.

Cask @ Leggers Beer Festival, Dewsbury. Dark but clear with a thin head. Has a good roasted malt aroma and a sweet roasted malt taste with a bushy aftertaste.

50cl bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - a lovely bright copper with a nicely proportioned head. Looks good. Nose - rich ginger and toffee cake. Taste - ginger biscuits. Some toffee. Palate - medium bodied with a big crunchy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - enjoyable.
