About
We are a Cornish Craft Beer brewery, based on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Using our own Spring water, combined with the finest modern hops to create punchy powerful beers. We've been brewing since 2008 and have exported to half a dozen countries.

Penpont is a microbrewery which produces cask ales and bottled beers, using a mixture of modern and traditional British brewing techniques.

Between 2016 and 2019 the name Altarnun Brewing was used.

Keg at the Ear of Essex - London. Pours clear, bright yellow-gold with a lingering white cream head. Crispy cereal in the nose with soft lemon and straw. Light sweet flavor with nicely realised pale malt character, mild cereal, hay, lemon rind. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Crisp finish, pretty clean, with grainy cereal, light bitter hay, biscuits. Very nicely balanced and flavorful golden ale.

Bottle at home, thanks to Amy from the brewery, 23/12/13. Clear copper amber with a good sized off white head that dissipates and retains as a pond. Nose is caramel, dark fruits, syrup and figs, dates, light honeycomb. Taste comprises rich caramel, light spice, toffee apple, stewed prunes, biscuit malt. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, nice feel for a bottled beer, sweet and bitter notes in a lightly spiced finish with a touch of booze. Nice English strong, carries some depth to it.

Bottle at home in London - got it direct from the brewery. Pours perfectly clear copper with a moderate, bubbly white head. The aroma holds smoked meat, caramel, sugary fruits and bread. Medium to big sweet flavor with candied ham, ripe berries, fruit cake, general bread. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Sugary finish, more bread and fruity cake, candied ham, some brown sugar, hints of yeasty dough, ripe berries. Very sweet and a bit one-dimensional but nothing too wrong here. Could certainly do with a bit more carbonation.
