Half-pint, keg, at Meat & Barrel. Shared with Finn. Almost black in the glass. Patchy off-white head, clingy lacing. Promising smell of nutty chocolate. Mid-sweet malt-driven flavours character of nuts, toffee, and chocolate malts. Short, roasted malty finish. Easy to drink. Decent. (Southsea 23.10.2019).

13/10/2019. Cask at The Dove Street Inn, Ipswich. Pours very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of toffee, roasted malt, chocolate, sweet black treacle, ash, light spice and dark fruit. Medium sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Moderate body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Sweet burnt finish. Pretty good though a pint would be a struggle.

Gravity cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Dark gold with a greenish hue, hazy with a loose ring of white head. Canned pineapple and gentle lime in the aroma but none of the eponymous vanilla. Sweet initial taste with a touch of vanilla, followed by a balancing fruity hop which increases to the long finish. Certainly decent but not overly exciting.
