Keg at Mother Kelly’s, Vauxhall, London. A black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee, bitter/sweet. This one started off well but I found a third of a pint quite hard going. Nice idea though.

Handpull cask at Broood at the Prince of Wales, Hinckley. Light golden, slightly hazy. Aroma is full of Simcoe, which is fantastic, although I always get a bit of a meaty/savoury aroma in this hop alongside the gentle apricotty notes. Sweetish fruit in the taste with the hop balancing the finish. More apricot in the aftertaste. Oily body, fairly flat. A decent pale ale.
