Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Fresh citrusy hop aroma - piney too. Medium body, very dry fruitiness, lots of astringent grapefruit - quinine-like. Dry and hoppy finish. Very American style IPA. 030511

Nicely hopped aroma of grapefruit, rosehip, and green tea, strong. Hazy orange, thin yellow. Definitely more on the hoppy side. Off balance and has little maltiness, but it’s still delicious. Grapefruit peel and lemon zest flavor with a touch of anise in the finish. Thin body. Atypical IPA, but immensely enjoyable.

12oz bottle pours a transparent orange with some very light, spitty white head that faded rather quickly. Nose is hoppy, nice, peppery, pine, grapefruit, lemon zest, very spicy. Loads of American hops. Flavor is more of the same, zesty, spicy, pine, pepper, a little soapy, a little metallic. A little thin in the mouth, spicy, hoppy finish. I like the hop characteristics, but the malt backing really let this down.

750ml bottle pours a watery, opaque brown with zero head. Nose is all bourbon, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, unfermented wort, booze. Flavor is bourbon and chocolate and not in a good way, wet wood, light malt. Really full bodied, hot, sticky. Could be good in a few years, but not today.

Slightly cloudy copper coloured body with a thin one-centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bread, yeast, caramel and a touch of hops. Light-bodied; Effervescent, watery flavour at first with some pungent light malt and a touch of hops with no body at all, no depth and nothing really flavourful. Aftertaste is just as mild, showing some malt, water, cardboard and perhaps a touch of light hops - not really though. Overall, a pretty sub-standard beer with not much flavour and absolutely no complexity - especially for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia on 27-March-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 05-April-2011.
