Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. A cola brown coloured pour with a thin beige head; earthy malt aroma with a hint of licorice; dry in the mouth with a touch of spice and an earthy malt body; then some bitter licorice to finish. A good twist on a traditional dark bitter.

On tap at the Barley Mow, Bristol 15/8/2017. Near black in colour, with a tight, beige, head. Caramel sweetness, some plain chocolate, leafy hops, liquorice, toasty malts and a moderately dry finish. Enjoyable.

[ As Good Chemistry Redstart Rye ].Unclear medium red amber colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy and open, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, rye, caramel, moderate hoppy, grapefruit, light citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, caramel, marmalade hops, sweet malt, orange. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20161015] 6-3-7-3-13
