This stovepipe can was purchased at Mr. T's locally within the past month. It is an IPA so it needs to be sampled, ready to go. I have a Belgian glass out for tonight's tastings, why not? It pours an indistinct pale, orange-yellow with a slender top of near-white foam. The nose is citrus somewhat along with juice. So where is this one going? The drink definitely is as advertised with honey front and center, hops to a lesser level, orange juice, a bit of pineapple and grapefruit. WC or NE? You tell me. Decently bitter but juicy. For some reason I find it tasty.

One of two 12 oz cans that came from a stacked pack that the brewery likes to market. I got this beer from Mr. T's which is the craft beer standard bearer locally. I have a Cowtown tulip glass to receive the pour, keeping it all in Texas. A brown, almost black, body, with a respectable head of dark tan foam. The scent is heavily chocolate with some nuttiness accompanying. The taste, well, it does deliver a bit different. Chocolate for sure, vanilla as advertised, a medicinal quality, malt and a touch of alcohol. I have had many samplings from the brewery, some not as good, a number better. Enough said.

I have a 12 oz can taken out of a double stack in a box that Martin House likes to do. Nothing ingredient-wise that I can object to. Brewed on Oct. 29, 2021 the label informs. My Great Heights snifter is in place to receive the pour, a dark black-brown body finished by a proper top of parchment brown foam. The smell, well, it is a good sign for later with chocolate, grain, toffee and a bit of booziness. I have a drink, no false step here, this is good. Baking chocolate, caramel, leather, bourbon, malt, toasted bread and just a hint of dark fruit. Any hops in here? I ask because it has a decent bitterness on the back end. My appreciation for Martin House increased with this one.

12 oz. can. Aroma Shows me mild whiskey, and light sake. The base of the beer has a very mild roasted backbone with notes of whiskey and a sake finish. Alcohol is mostly hidden. Overall, I do enjoy how different the rice makes this!

A tall boy can purchased at the closest to a craft beer shop we have in town a month or so back. I lift the tab and tilt the can of brew into my Cowtown snifter. Mostly black liquid with a bit of brown around the edges and no discernible head. I smell chocolate and a bit of marshmallow. And I have a taste, chocolate again mostly, sorghum molasses, grain, malt, enough peanuts to mention it and a nice sweetness, call it honey. A decent thickness. Martin House continues to do well with their special brewings, particularly imperial stouts. Clown Shoes used to excel at that but I haven't seen something new from them in quite awhile. MH seems to have picked up that mantle.

Can (3/24/22) pour from trade with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! It's an opaque black with nice sparkle, finger-plus width light brown foamy head with good retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong bourbon over subtle earthy roast. Taste is strong bourbon over earthy roast, brown sugar, wood and mild toffee. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average carbonation, some alcohol warmth and finish as taste. Overall, bourbon is strong but smooth. Other aromas and flavors are fairly subtle.

12 oz. can from HEB in Boerne, TX. Pours a motor oil black color with a small beige head and decent retention. Decent lacing. Yes, it smells like gingerbread. Strong spiced gingerbread flavor and some cinnamon. A bit over the top. I can barely taste any stout characteristics. Too much of a good thing? A little thin body for a stout. Light carbonation. Low bitterness. They nailed the gingerbread flavor - to a fault. At least the 8.0% ABV is invisible.

12 oz can of a fairly high powered DIPA, all right by me. A snifter in front of me, I make the pour. A clear gold body headed by a significant top of off-white, thick foam. It smells good, fruit, honey and a small intrusion of hops. The taste is an improvement on that, a real IPA. Pine, syrup, yellow fruit, white bread, tangerines and straw. No presence of the alcohol, let us see if it comes up on me later. Okay, not the holy grail.
