Tasted at Oakville, but it was brewed at Whitby
Medium brown; too much fusel alcohol - gak! Lightly chewy, toffee malts, hint of woody, almond skins. At 6.5% they would have had to work hard to get all those higher alcohols in there, and that is definitely not worth the effort.

Tasted at Oakville, but it was brewed at Whitby
Reddish dark brown; caramel nose w/ wood, toffee; palate is a little bit watery; light bread crust & toffee in there as well.

Tasted at the Oakville branch, but brewed at Whitby
Full gold colour; biscuity malts in the nose are appetizing. Mild palate, some crisp hoppiness - lime, hay, flowers. Minty note in the finish. Has some good elements, but needs to expand upon them because it comes up light overall.

On draught at Frog Bear Wild Boar, and coincidentally not available at the Gordon Bierch two doors down. Dark gold with an orange hue, medium thick off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is alternatingly fruity and malty. Flavor is kind of tangy, without much malt balance. Rather clean finish but I thought this was pretty average. Alcohol level was well hidden.

Boring yellow, but with good dose of foam (like the picture, actually. Malty, biscuity with crisp, celery-like hops. Overall needs a malt boost.

So this is a Dortmunder. Nice hops and gold (not yellow!) color. Medium head and minimal lacing. While crisp and refreshing, this is by no means GB's best beer, if you are getting a GB, go for the Marzen or Dunkles.

Dark yet light-bodied, and I had no problems driking a huge mug of this. Had a nice aftertaste that didn't wear thin. Surprisingly smooth considering there is no filtration involved.

This is a great benchmark for other pilsners to live up to. The hardest thing is choosing between this and the GB Marzen.
