Dullish pale with some haze and a fairly big, if weak-looking, head. An aromatic mix of yoghurty kettle sour and lots of leafy hop. On the palate, medium sourness, cut just slightly by some residual malt sweetness. The dry hop still lingers with leafy aromatics, and stone fruits, along with pears. Mild bitterness in there as well.

I’ve been meaning to try this Coffee Gose from Russel Brewing for awhile and bring in the need of a caffeine pick me up I figured now was the time! Pale matte straw gold with thin bright white fizzy foam that vanished in a blink. The aroma is a tart, salty coffee. Medium bodied, this beer is very tart and while the coffee comes through clearly it comes across as sort of briney. A strange beer that almost, but not quite, worked.

Hazy dull beigey sort of colour. Thick head. Has a fairly sharp, yogurty kettle sour character that the I7 just sort of floats over. Low bitterness but some pithy grapefruit notes, melon, papaya. More balanced on the palate. Not as sour as expected either.

Russel 1921 Post-Prohibition Pilsner 5% 26 IBU Crystal clear gold with decent foam which leaves soapy lacing behind. Rich malty sweet aroma, full bodied and raspy carbonation. Sweet malty freshly threshed grain with crisp bitter herbal hops. A good example of the style.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with full head. Aromas of cherry cola and roasted malts. Flavors of acidic nuts and roasted malts; not really getting the fruit.

On tap. Pours a murky pink-red with a medium, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready pale malt, raspberry and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready pale malt, raspberry, lactose, vanilla and floral hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a soft, thick texture and soft carbonation. Not really getting white chocolate, but tasty nonetheless.

Can with KBL. Creamy grain nose, corn and malt, lemony hops. Smooth and creamy flavor, sweet, corn, like a cream ale a bit. Lemony, biscuity. Decent.

473ml can. Pours a hazy straw colour with a large, frothy, short lived, white head that laces. Tart aroma of funky yeast, lemon, rice and pineapple. Sweet flavour of grainy wheat malt, rice, lemon, lime, funky yeast, pineapple and pickle in a crisp, dry, sour finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Clean, refreshing and thirst quenching. Not bad.
