Description
Tutts Clump Cider is a family business that was set up in 2006 by Tim Wale. Tim (who is an Agricultural/Motor Engineer by trade) was born in the hamlet of Tutts Clump, West Berkshire in 1957 and still lives there. Tim is assisted by his wife and five daughters - two of whom are full time.
Cider making started as a hobby with production of some 25 litres. By 2013 we were using around 90 tonnes of home counties grown apples and crafting some 60,000 litres of Proper Cider which is increasing year on year (71,000 litres in 2019). We do not filter, pasturise or carbonate our products and the only additives are sucralose and sulphites in small quantities. We do everything in house and package in bottles, cans, bag in box, pouches, casks and kegs.

Taste comprises bitter sweet apple flesh, porky tang, smoked straw, grains, sweet and sour. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a bitter sweet smack. My kind of cider, earthy, funky, sweet and sour.

Bottle at Malt the Brewery, 12/08/17. Clear faded lemon yellow with a decent crown of white bubbles that collapse to the edge. Nose is funky apple, light smoke, woody, sweet and sour tunes. Tatste comprises sharp apple pucker, tannins, light smoke, caramel, apple orchard, hint of barnyard. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Decent cider ... more carbonation offered than most of this ilk which aided the drinkability for me.

Bottle at home, 25/03/17. Hazed washed out yellow / blonde with a decent white covering that retains very well for a cider .... 10 + minutes! Nose is funky, apple orchard, straw, light smoke, barnyard. Taste comprises apple, smoked meats, straw, farmy essence but lacking the funk on the nose. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Decent cider.
