Open plan pub that feels fairly old-fashioned despite the new-fangled name. It's crowded on a Saturday night but handles the crowds well due to good spatial planning. Lots of students but a few townies as well. The walls are red with the occasional flurry of dried hops. And the beer is beautiful, hitting the UK trifecta of good cask, keg (8 each) and a bittle/can fridge. They've had a Turning Point showcase by the looks of things, and there's still plenty left along with big names like Cloudwater and Timothy Taylor, and some local outfits such as Fat Cat. Very reasonable prices and something for everyone. A craft venue for sure but a pub first.

Handpull cask at the York, Norwich. Mid-gold, clear with a ring of white head. Juicy and resinous aroma with notes of white grapefruit, tangerine and a touch of persimmon. Bittersweet with a fairly intense bitterness in the finish. The mouthful is quite thick for the ABV and style. Very little carbonation. I wasn't too keen but it's decent enough.

Keg draught at the Coach & Horses, Norwich. Light gold and mostly clear with a film of white head. Light aroma, and lighter on the Mosaic than I was hoping, but there are still light notes of citrus, berry, stone fruit. Mostly sweet taste, with a good bitterness in the back of the tongue in the finish. Some stone fruit and more citrus. Thin body with considerable but not excessive carbonation. Refreshing but not so much personality.

Draught keg at the Hop Rocket, Norwich. Light gold and fairly hazy with a very small layer of white head and a fair bit of lacing. Grassy aroma with berries, white grapefruit, a little bit of coconut. Sweet taste, berries and citrus in the foreground. Nice touches of bitterness in the finish, leaving a nice balance. Light body with medium to heavy tight carbonation. Impressive.

1 litre glass bottle bought from Baltic Foods Oxford and drunk at home. Colour is very dark brown and opaque with a short-lived tan head. Earthy, malty aroma. Lovely taste, bready with strong notes of raisins and currants, chocolate malt on the finish. It is way too sweet but not a bother in small quantities. Light body with carbonation on the heavy side. Lovely except for the intense sweetness.

50cl bottle from Baltic Food, Oxford. Light to mid-gold and clear. Honey, grassy herbs, maybe a hint of citrus. Sweet honeyed taste but doesn’t run away with it. A sourness toward the finish, bitter herb. Silky smooth texture, thick, viscous. Not the best Lithuanian mead I’ve had but it’s pretty good.

1.5 litre plastic bottle bought as part of a delivery from Baltic Foods, Oxford. Drunk at home. Very dark brown, translucent with a ring of tan head. Aroma is soured bread, it’s really malty with almost elements of damp earth smell. Taste is actually a bit sour-sweet. Stale bread. A lot of caramel, a bit of cola.weird and the worst kvass I’ve had.

440ml can bought as part of a delivery from RAD Beer and drunk at home. Is it supposed to come out this thick and gloopy? Pink, grey and orange-ish colour, thick and opaque with a pinkish white head. Aroma of vanilla, tropical fruits, berries. The taste is sumptous: marshmallow, guava, strawberry. Sweet as heep, but with a touch of sourness. Thickest beer I've ever had with some solid chunks. Basically no carbonation. Crazy and odd but very good.
