Corner pub in front of an opening in the road in front of an imposing church. The name of the pub is misleading as this is a vibrant traditional styled venue with wooden floors, a pleasant garden and live music on the busier nights. The bar at the front has good cask choices across four pumps and a craft keg available too.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#17. POOLE. Debunked to the Parkstone suburbs for this one, a darker clear copper-amber ale with a small head. It's a sweetish traditional bitter, which feels less fashionable these days.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#16. POOLE. Found just north of the 18th Century Guildhall building at the Brewhouse & Kitchen, it's clear golden with a head. Session material with an easy and hoppy character. Has a good full mouthfeel and a smoothish texture.

Off the western side of the main commercial street that runs north-south, it's about 75 metres or so south of the railway level crossing. As atmospheric as any in this chain, and it does look like a chain pub with a traditional design, it is in a lovely single storey building with a large front terrace in a quiet area of the town centre. There's outdoor space out back too. Food is served, brews from on-site using the national recipes'. Probably a stop you'll want to make in at the time of writing a less than exciting central selection of pubs in Poole.

Another 4th of July drink and another anniversary on US Independence Day as it's also the anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase, expanding the territory in the early 19th century. On the sweet side cider with a lovely deeper glowing golden colour. Its apple is healthy with a lovely tangy bitterness to finish.

Time capsule beer with events on this day including Oasis playing their first gig in 16 years. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom split, and Russia becomes the first country to recognise the Taliban as the current rulers of Afghanistan. Deeper, slightly darker amber colour with a stated hoppy and fruity quintessential west coast styling.

My earliest crush was a girl called Cheryl Asbury. I think I was about 5! Clear golden session stuff, nicely hopped but not much more beyond everything said.
