Opaque yellow. Bit citrus, tropical, sweet. Medium to full bodied. Tingle carbonation. Finish is tart fruit. Ok.

Opaque golden yellow with a white head. Notes of tropical fruits, papaya, lactose. A bit thin in flavor and body. Easy.

Opaque golden with a white head. Notes of tropical fruits, botanical, a bit floral citrus. Full bodied. A tang in the finish. Usually, NEIPAs are about as dull as they get but this one actually refreshes the spirit and avoided the classic NEIPA pitfalls. Nice one.

After a few more pints of Guinness than planned at Bowe’s (worth it) we stumbled over to Palace Bar to check it out and … for a pint.
A well-appointed pub with an unexpectedly large back room that offered quite a bit of comfy seating options whilst sipping on the dark stuff. Admittedly, we were a bit sauced by this time so while I do remember the important stuff, the minor bits are long gone. Service was friendly as always and the pint was a good one. But, it was definitely time to rest up for the next day of boozers.

The final night of our Ireland tour featured a bit of a toned down crawl- but a crawl nonetheless. We hopped on the tram and headed down to the Rathmines area to explore a couple pubs in the ‘burbs.
All I’d been told about Rody Bolands was that it was a good boozer void of tourists. The beer lineup was standard (Murphy’s, Guinness, a few Harp, Bulmers, Coors, and a couple Longshore) so I opted for a pint of Murphy’s. It was in fine form. The place has been around since the late 1800s but has obviously been renovated pretty thoroughly (minus the bathrooms), which created a kind of Irish Pub meets Chili’s feel. Much bigger than the pubs closer to the city and the locals were filing in to watch the game on the upper of the split level layout, which seemed to serve as the more rowdy area. Service was good at the bar and from the waite staff.
I thought it a solid spot but lacked that cozy feel I enjoy in a good pub. I dug the many mini-booths that lined the wall and offered a bit more privacy if that was your aim. Interesting to see if you enjoy exploring different types of pub culture but not necessarily worth the trek if that doesn’t intrigue you.
