20 July 2025. At Café De Welkom, Ghent. Cheers to the WzW crew!

Hazy dark brown, stable, foamy, tan head. Aroma of Coca-Cola, toasted almond, cold coffee, caramel, prune, overripe melon, dried banana, cough syrup, sweet whisky. Taste has sweet prune, cherry & banana in a caramelly, syrupy, almondy malt body, strengthening the herbal Coca-Cola effect. Herbal hops in the finish, lingering dried fruits, syrup and soft sweet whisky-like alcohol. Medium body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Hm, this started off well but didn't improve when warming up (contrary to what you'd expect from an Old Ale), turning a bit artificial.

T: sweetish melon, pear, bit sourish citrus zest, biscuit, bitter herbs.
F: dry grassy hops, bitter orange peel, herbs, tea.
P: medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation.
I'm not a herbs expert myself, but the added flavours do complement the profile well.

Bottle from Stacks. Hazy dark amber, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of rum-soaked raisin, date, Maraschino cherry, marzipan, liqueur, wet wood, clove, chewing gum. Taste has very sweet raisin, date & pear in a syrupy, brioche-like, caramelly malt body, some phenolic clove. Mild herbal hops in the finish, which is dominated by dried fruits, a touch of wood and quite boozy liqueur- or brandy-like alcohol; tequila might be there but not recognisably so for me. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Another enjoyable "BB BA", but with a slightly cruder profile.

11 - 14 July. Holiday retreat at Laon. Cheers! Bottle from the brewery. Bottled: 09/2022. Hazy yellow, small, frothy, white head. Aroma of gooseberry, overripe plum, apricot, lime, sourdough, hay, cheese. Taste has sour plum, gooseberry & grape in a sourdough-like malt body, surrounded by funky hay & cheese notes. Tart, bretty & woody, plum pit-like finish. Medium body, moussy texture, average carbonation. Gentle, yet rounded fruity Sour Ale.

11 - 14 July. Holiday retreat at Laon. Cheers!
Can from Stacks. Canned: 22/04/2025.
Hazy bright yellow, stable, foamy, white head. Intense aroma of fresh peach, papaya, pineapple, melon, moist white pepper, garlic, shallot, sherbet, yellow grapefruit, dough, cheese rind, tripel sec. Taste has sweet peach, pineapple & lychee, turning towards bittersweet orange peel, dank shallot and spicy white pepper in a doughy, slightly sherbetty malt body. Very bitter finish offering notes of grapefruit, juicy citrus, floral & peppery hops, leading to a hop burn reminiscent of raw garlic even, and some warming gin-like alcohol. Full body, fluffy texture, soft carbonation. Very complex and intense, especially towards the finish, but never out of balance. This DIPA has it all.
