18 February 2025. Bottle from Hopduvel. Vintage 2018. Bottled: 10/07/2024.

Clear dark golden to orange, lasting, thin, white head. Aroma of vinegar, dry sherry, horseblanket, wet hay, damp cellar, green apple, sourdough, sweaty cheese, grape must. Taste has sour unripe plum, nectarine pit and white grape in a sourdough- & sour cream-like malt body; complemented by lactic acid, funky hay, vinegar and wet wood notes. Tart, dry, astringent finish with a dash of old grassy hops, impressions of oak, grape skin and stone fruit pit going hand in hand to provide a tannic and sherry-like finish (without noticeable alcohol warmth). Medium body, slick-moussy texture, soft to flat carbonation. Complex and rounded Wild Ale, a far cry from Struise's latest boozy endeavours, but clear testimony to their inherent craft.

P: medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation.
Bit too harsh for the style.

22 August 2024. At Hal 16 (Dok Brewing). Shared with the lovely Anke!

A: clear dark yellow, no head.
A: passion fruit flesh, dragonfruit, papaya.
T: sour passion fruit, lime, yoghurt.
F: tart passion fruit, berry skin, physalis.
P: medium body, slick-watery texture, average carbonation.
Very refreshing, but a bit too light in body.

Bottle from Delhaize.
A: hazy red, small, foamy, pinkish head.
A: sweetened raspberry jam & coulis, powdered sugar, white bread, red candy.
T: sweet raspberry candy, coulis, powdered sugar, some grenadine, vague lemony sourishness.
F: sweet raspberry candy, slightly bitter syrup, touch of fruit liqueur or jenever alcohol.
P: medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation.
It is what it is. At least it's not as boozy as Kasteel Rouge (but that's only because the syrup covers it all).

Can from Delhaize.
A: clear golden, thinning, white head.
A: maize, potato, old leek, chicken broth, soggy bread.
T: sweetish corn, pale malt, cereals.
F: very vague grassy hops, corn, yeast.
P: light body, watery texture, soft carbonation.
Almost flavourless and thus inoffensive, basically feels like a Bud Light. Evidently a mass market product, but at least it's an NA beer that connects partying with the most popular midnight snack.
