Bottle. Birthday gift from the missus. Gusher for fuck sake. Why does a stout turn into a gusher? Nearly black. Massive fucker of a swede. Sticky sweet and ghastly bitter. Nah. Shite.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. Light haze on an orangey gold. Very decent just off white foam. Nose has peppery hop with sturdy biscuit sweet malts. Whiff of sourness. A bit tinny. But good tinny. Taste is bitter more than sweet which I didn’t expect. Toothsome and nourishing feeling. Good peppery hop finish. Burp inducing meal in a glass.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Light haze on a pale gold. Good swede. Nose has all of the Jaipur grapefruit hoppage with some milky sweetness you don’t ordinarily get. Bit of fruity estery yeast. Taste has a more sweet edge overall. Still very easy drinking throughout. Less bitter on the finish.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. It’s not far removed from the original as you’d imagine, but the addition does give a nicely juicy semi tart extra dimension. Think Grapefruit Sculpin and you’re almost there. Sank it double quick. Will be stocking up.

Bottle. High Peak Beer and Wine. As with other Torrside pales this pours with a muddiness about the colour. Kind of thing that makes you wonder if it’s a bit oxidised (see pic). Which it isn’t. But it looks it. Anyhoo. Lovely swede if nothing else. Nose has biscuity malts. Rind and pith of sweet ripe orange. Nice twang of lime in there. Bit of a fusty sweet white grape thing too. Taste has a touch of sweetness up first but mostly it’s bitter and lightly tangy (actually maybe it is a bit wonky?). Good depth of flavour overall. Plenty of bitterness to finish. Definitely not run of the mill.
