Tap at the brewery. Sour IPA with NZ hops and kiwi puree in the mash. Fruity, malty, citrus and white grape, a touch of kiwi flavor but not very distinct. Not hugely sour--the brut IPA was more so, but well balanced. Decent.

Tap at the brewery. Bright gold, almost clear. Fruity nose, tart, lemon, peach and apricot, koji. Nicely tart and some sweetness. None of the nasty grape juice I associate with brut IPAs. Nice stone fruit and citrus. Good stuff.

Tap at the brewery. Almost black, with lace. Nose is light clove, chocolate, toast, and a touch of banana. Dry, not sweet, and much lower esters than expected. Very toasty, and a bit of roast as well. Clean and subtle. I prefer more esters, but not bad.

Tap at the brewery. Uses a brown ale as its base, though I would say it seemed more like an amber ale. Deep amber, and slightly muddy looking. Toasty malt and a some caramel, but not a lot. Yuzu definitely leads, but it is not overdone. Subtle and balanced, as much from Woodmill is.

Tap at the brewery. Very hazy pastel gold. Nice nose, citrus like grapefruit, peach, light banana. Fruity but dry flavor, not what I expected. Not thick and cloying at all. Nice fruit flavors, finishing dry with a pronounced bitterness. Fun.

Tap at Woodmill Brewery. Deep amber, clear. Toasty malt in the nose, light citrus and resiny hops. Malty, toasty, light caramel, bitter and dry. Not much hop aroma. Much like an old school APA.

Quite a small place, located in a beautiful old traditional Kyoto Machiya. Great atmosphere. Two tables in the back. If you want to sit, reservations are suggested, and easy to do on the web site. Standing up front. Cash-on-delivery for 5 taps of their beer. There are bottles to go, and there are a few snacks. Their beers are solid. They like using local additives like yuzu or sake koji. They tend to all be about 5%. People were very nice and they spoke some English. The hours are very limited, but it's worth a stop.
