Can. Pours a bright pastel yellow, cloudy, with a medium head. Nice Simcoe nose, spicy, citrus, floral, with honey malts. Sweet honey and biscuit flavor, spicy, minerally, lemon. Soft palate. Good show of Simcoe.

Can. Nose is white grapes, orange, lemon, biscuity malt. Sweet and fruity flavor, white wine, citrus, nice hops. Good flavor but a bit too sweet. Almost cloying.

One of two taprooms for the brewery, this one is close to Kyoto city hall. A stylish place also serving coffee and Bakkutteh. Only 6 taps, all theirs. Prices are a bit high for a brewery's own beer, but I guess you are paying for location. Their beers are generally pretty good.

KBL The Garage

A spacious, laid back alternative to the always crowded original KBL. Around 15 taps, plus a fridge full of cans and bottles, many of their own beers and several guests as well. Food is limited but good. The smoked platter is excellent. Not far from Kyoto station.
