Much like all the other CBM bars. Prices are not as fantastic as they used to be, and most of the beers I want to try are priced higher. Still, they have a lot of beers and it is pretty good value compared to other places in town. They have great tap takeovers too.

Loud, crowded supermarket, so going here is usually an unpleasant experience for me. They do have a decent selection of beer, though, probably the best place in the station area to pick up Japanese or American craft beer. Cash only.

Stand Umineko Koto

I really hated this place at first, now somewhat ambivalent. It's all standing except for a couple seats at the back, and possibly upstairs, but I haven't checked that out yet. Prices are higher than average, but at least now you get a glass instead of a plastic cup. The good thing about this place is that they get beers from lots of new breweries that you can't try anywhere else in town. But in the case of many of those breweries, that is also the bad thing about this place!

Kyoto Arashiyama Brewery

Strange name, as it isn't anywhere near Arashiyama. 5 of their own beers when I went, none were terrible, but all those I had were somewhat uninspired. Set up to cater to tourists. They spoke English to me even though I spoke Japanese to them. Not for me.

Nomcraft Taproom Juso

Osaka tap room for Nomcraft Brewery in Wakayama. about 3 minute walk from Juso station. I really liked this place. they had 12 taps of their own beer and 3 guests. Most of their beers were ¥550/¥880 for what seemed like 250/400ml or so. Good value. They had several PAs and IPAs on tap, but also 5 German styles which were all good. There are many cans for take away too. They have limited food options, but you can bring your own food in, and there are many restaurants and take-out places in the neighborhood. Finally a reason to go to Juso.

Nomclassic Weizen Doppelbock from Nomcraft Brewing

7/10 — Appearance 8 Aroma 7 Flavor 7 Texture 6 Overall 7

Draught at their Juso taproom. Dark brown, almost black, with a tall off-white head. Cloudy. Very estery nose with lots of bananas, cloves, and apple. Also caramel and chocolate. Flavor is sweet and very fruits, a bit too much apple for me. Good but the sweet fruitiness kind of overwhelms the malt character, so it felt a bit unbalanced.

Tap at their taproom in Juso. Amber orange tending towards brown. Off-white head. Malty caramel in the nose, dark bread, light nuts, apple and orange. Flavor is light, malty, caramel, quite fruity, with some spicy hops. Decently done.
