Location: 12 oz bottle from Shop Rite, 5/8/14

Aroma: The nose is coffee mostly, mid-sweet, with hints of chocolate and earth
Appearance: A dark brown color with a lasting fizz of beige-brown head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is sweetened coffee up-front, with an earthy hop bitterness later on
Palate: The body is light-medium, and it very easy drinking despite a plus carbonation
Overall Impression: This is a solid, coffee-forward beer. It's lighter in body than I expected, but it doesn't come off thin or watery. If you like your coffee on the sweeter side, I can't really see any reason why you wouldn't enjoy this beer, at least a little.

Draught at Redbones, 3/22/14
Dark brown body shows medium-low clarity and a medium-sized light beige head with medium-low retention.
Salted caramel mixes with vanilla espresso in the nose and provides a fairly unique aroma for this now ubiquitous and mostly redundant style. Definite malt sweetness is there, adding more honey and vanilla, while some dry, lightly acidic roastiness hangs on the end, giving a pretty nice balance to the nose, overall.
Dry, roasted coffee flavors abound throughout a nicely attenuated body that has engaging but very light carbonation, creating a slick, somewhat watery texture. Liquorous-like vanilla and prunes are enjoyable, while an almost maple-like note lingers on the end, along with the reasonably reserved amount of coffee flavor. Good stuff, not just another cookie-cutter coffee stout/porter.

Dark brown, earthy chocolatey, smooth roastiness, the aroma is actually quite appetizing, with that earthy Victrola coming out quite a bit with its nutty, earthy overtones.

Bottle: Black with brown head. Aroma is strong coffee bean. Taste is silky smooth up front with loads of rich espresso coffee bean and roasted in the finish.

Bomber bought at Super 1 in Rathdrum, ID. Aroma consists of chocolate milk, coffee, bread. Pours opaque dark dark brown to black with brown edges and a medium tan head with good retention. Taste is sweet and roasty with a bitter edge. Chocolaty coffee flavors. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Excellent sweet coffee beer.

Rich deep dark brown body with a lighter brown bottom and a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toffee and hints of oats. Medium-bodied; Rich deep coffee flavours throughout with a bit of nuts, earth, caramel and a lot of bitterness at the end, especially. Aftertaste shows a lot of oatmeal, nuts, earth and caramel with the coffee flavours really hitting hard along with milk and lactic qualities. Overall, a nice beer that shows quite a bit of bitterness and some solid flavours, but not smooth nor entirely sweet. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods (I Street - Foggy Bottom) in Washington, DC on 10-January-2014 for US$2.49 sampled at home here in Washington on 21-February-2014.

Pours a glubby dark brown color and leaves a finger and a half’s worth of a light semi-tan foamy head that dies into the body and leaves a nice spider web lacing sticking finely to the glass.
The smell has a powerful espresso aroma encompasses a delicately sweet chocolatey goodness combining and leading into a gentle roastiness.
The taste is mainly sweet through the chocolate and yet the espresso comes back to add a light roasty bitterness. The aftertaste has an exceptionally smooth chocolate goodness with a quick dry roasty finish.
On the palate, it sits about a light to medium - like it wants to try to sit heavier on the mouth but balances between the light and medium bodies; actually there’s a slight sessionability to this. Carbonation is exceptionally smooth just like a milk/sweet stout should be.
Overall, wow, I’m impressed that this beer is as good as it is. I would definitely have this again.

Poured from the tap. Near black with beige head. Roast malt and espresso with a touch of lactose. Liking it a lot better than 6 years ago. Last Rating (Feb 2014) 7/3/7/3/14 (3.4). Poured from 1 pint (6 fl oz) bottle. Dark brown, near-black with tan head. Strong coffee roast aroma. Roasted coffee flavour is dominant, but light, on the taste with some subtle lactic sweetness in the background. Medium body. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.
