The roasty and toasty nature of Black Isle's Hibernator Oatmeal Stout is accentuated by the smooth, balanced complexity of the Glenmorangie cask.

Thanks to Silke. She didn’t realize this was so old when she bought it. Black with a creamy, beige head. Charred grains, chocolate, oak, vanilla. Taste is roasted bitter with sweet, fudge undertones. Long charred bitter finish with the whisky finally making itself felt—in a restrained manner. Body to the full side of medium, mild carbonation. Well balanced, smooth sipper. Time has been kind to this one. Excellent.

Bottle split at Bodney, thanks to Scopey, 12/04/18. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a well presented beige head. Nose is oatmel choc cookies, light charr, raisines, spice, dark malts. Taste comprises cocoa powder, toffee, mellow barrel, chocolate biscuit, dried fruits, vinous strokes, light black peppery spice. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boost. Ok impy ... easy sipper if lacking some depth.
