Muddy golden with no head. Strong hops, sweet crystal malt, and some light toasted notes. Sweet citrus throughout. Medium bodied. Solid offering.

Pours a clear, copper-gold, with mid-sized, lasting head. Aroma is a bit muted, with some hops, some soapiness (almost), some grassiness. Flavor is a touch on the sweet side, with some hop bitterness. Nice balance, pretty smooth.

Kinda spicy, hoppy. Winter warmers should be darker, dammit. This is average to my palate.

Bottle from Total Wine, Gainesville, VA. Pours hazy orange with a tiny off-white head. Aroma is light: orange spice tea, slight cotton candy. Flavor is bitter cotton candy, burnt sugar, caramel, pine, light orange oil. Almost want to say salty. Don’t care for this one too much.

On tap at Elysian Fields. Pours a clear orange gold with medium frothy white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is grass and spice. Medium body, pine, grass, light bitterness, decent.

Pour is a hazy copper with a small white head. Aroma is kind of like sugar plums. Sweet caramel malt with some dark fruit. Flavor is a toasty bready malt with some sweet caramel and molasses finish. Kind of a bit muddled and disjointed. The beer did not know what it wanted to be. Dry English malt but with a sweet caramel band the dark fruit in the aroma was not in the flavor. Still this is decent winter warmer, it was just all over the place between the aroma and flavor.

Draught. Clear dark orange-amber with small creamy off-white head, faint spicy aroma, high carbonation, spicy taste with hint of nutmeg, balanced hops flavor, spicy finish. Very nice brew.

On tap at Burger Tap Shake in Washington Circle, pours a hazy dark gold with some frothy, white head. Nose has pine and dried lemon peel, soap, some herbs, just a little bit of grist, a little pissy. Flavor has pine and lemon, some white grapefruit, some bouquet garni, just a little cracker malt. Bitter, dry finish.

Finally trying Elysian’s Bifrost ale on tap at CBB Bud. A clear reddish orange pour with a sweet fruity nose. Medium bodied and smooth the taste is spice and orange peel with a hearty dose of hops. Pretty good.
