Dark mahogany-ebony of undetermined clarity. Little/no tan head dissolves to bubbles instantly.
Very fruity, much more than expected, with all sorts of coffee character ranging from light earth, to piquant currant and various dark fruits, to more classic char/ash roast. It’s easily backed by the solid base of malt, which balances with caramel and milk chocolate-like notes. For less than a month-old, it’s pretty manageable on the alcohol/sharp ester, with nothing really breaking through the fruit and roast of the coffee and dark malt. Definitely smells like it’s going to be on the sweeter side, but the richness doesn’t come off cloying, at least in the nose.
Sweet and rich, as expected, with tons of caramel, chocolate and even honey, creating layers of soft malt texture with low-to-moderate, engaging carbonation. Great mix of dark fruit from both bean and roasted malt. Roasty and somewhat syrupy. Thick and rich. But undeniably good. The fruity acidity and char-like roast really save the day here.

(On tap @ Himmeriget, Copenhagen, July 6/17) Pours black with a small tight pale tan head. Aroma is intensely, nearly exclusively lightly sweetened cold brew coffee, backed by subtle dark toffee, toast and chocolate notes. Flavour is likewise totally dominated by espresso and cold brew notes, toasted and a bit ashy, with a burnt sugar core, light accents of cocoa powder and vanilla, fairly sweet but with a rather substantial roast bitterness and earthy quality too, and a little spicebox on the back end. Medium full body with creamy carbonation and no hint of alcohol. No doubt this is absolutely centered on the coffee, it is very nice though! Could drink one for breakfast...

Draft. A black beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of coffee and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of coffee and roasted malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Keg at the Trillium Tap Takeover at Beavertown Brewery Tap. Dark brown bordering on but not quite black. Opaque with a small amount of visible carbonation and a tiny ring of khaki head. The cold-brew coffee dominates the phenomenal aroma. Notes of cinnamon, ammonia, oak and bitter chocolate can also be detected in the nose. Sweet taste with a yeasty sourness. Incredibly subtle for the ABV. More sourness in the finish. Black cherry, Marmite, single estate chocolate and sweet, cold coffee hang out for the aftertaste. Absolutely incredible from first sniff to gulping the last dregs.

Keg at the Beavertown event. Pours deep brown with a creamy khaki head. The nose holds nice fresh coffee, milk chocolate, smooth roast. Medium to hearty sweet flavour with luscious chocolate, supple scorched earth, dark chocolate. Full bodied, creamy, with fine carbonation. Well balanced finish, lightly warming, with more decadent chocolate character, light bitterness, some raisins, lasting fresh coffee. Wonderful.

Keg at Beavertown. It pours near black with a medium off-white head. The aroma is big coffee character, rich roasted malt, dried fruits, spice, earth, wood, ash and charcoal. The taste is rich, roasted malt, slick, hard roast, oily, coffee grounds, cocoa, rocky road, cookie dough, light alcohol heat and light spice with a dry, warming finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Rich and very flavoursome. Good stuff.
