Poured from a 22 oz bottle form either 2014 or 2015. Aroma is malt forward with lots of caramel malt, honey malt and candi sugar. Hints of raisin with some light red apple and pear esters. Moderate hop noes with citrus and pine resin. Medium to medium light alcohol spice. Medium light oak notes. Pours a moderately hazy, copper color with a medium small to small, moderately thick, light tan head that recedes steadily to the edges where it lingers. Medium lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of caramel, honey and sugar notes. Hints of lightly toasted bread. Moderately high bitterness and a medium light oak note. Medium high hop notes that are very resinous with some light citrus character and a bit of an spicy, herbal note. Medium alcohol spice. Light bourbon notes. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and moderate alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice, lighter barleywine. Lots of hop character that peaks through the light malt profile. Very sweet, but its balanced by a fairly assertive bitterness. Bourbon note is a bit light, but the oak is more prevalent which is odd.

Bottle, 2014. POurs hazy reddish orange, small beige head, dissipates quickly to bubbles, some lacing. Aroma is loads of oak and vanilla, bourbon, toffee. Flavor is full sweet, light plus bitter, mega oak and vanilla here too. Bitterness cuts the sweetness enough to make it drinkable, but its still a sipper. Medium body, fairly light signs of the booze inside.

Bottle split at Jack The Sipper leaves for the FBI again tasting, thanks to Kenwold for this low boost (by his standards) offering, 14/07/15. Very lightly hazed orange amber with a decent off white covering. Nose is woody, bitter tropicana shreds, spruce, orange, light spice. Taste comprises a rich dark fruit enclave, hoppy bite, barrel tones, toffee, cake mix. Medium + body, oily feel, bitter tropicana and a drizzle of booze in the close. Xolid gear ... really drinkable stuff!

Bottle shared in London during Jack’s long goodbye. Big thanks to K-bird for this b-wine; where does he get this stuff? What a guy.
The beer pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. The nose is rich marmalade, bread, wood and grain. Big sweet flavor with lots of jammy citrus, pale grains and alcohol. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Hot finish, big and sweet, with sugary ripe citrus, bitter pine and grass. A bit punchy for sure, but nice in small doses.

Farewell Jack bottleshare at Craft Clerkenwell. Very hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry with decent fine carbonation. Airy dry creamy malts. Light wood and bitterish toffee. Little spice. Well integrated fruity bourbon. Airy semi dry finish. Quite a low abv for BA barleywine but it is still a bad boy and a thoroughly entertaining one.

Bottle thanks to Mr 18K Kenny. It pours cloudy deep amber with a medium beige head. The nose is very rich, dried fruits, banana bread, fruit cake, raisin, candied orange peel, stewed peach, earth and nougat. The taste is rich, woody, earthy, leather, vanilla, toasted coconut, massive hit of bourbon, toasted toffee, fruit cake and spice with a slick, warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Too hot right now, but still rather enjoyable.

Bottle from Healthy Spirits SF, bought in February 2015. (24.99 USD) A bit hazy orange/amber with a small head. Nice aroma of toffee, dried fruit, light hops and some oak. Similar taste. Quite sweet and with warming alcohol. The finish was quite bitter. A tasty beer.
