Dezente Rauchnote; leichte dunkle Frucht. Mild rezent. Für ein Bockbier enorm leicht und süffig. Abgang fein fruchtig mit ganz leichter Zitrusnote, leicht grasig-pfeffriger Hopfen. - Süßes Blockmalz, dezenter Rauch, fruchtige Note und kühlender Hopfen in perfekter Harmonie. Vorzüglich!

Day 2 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, tap at Spezial Bamberg, 25/01/14. Dark chestnut brown with a moderate beige covering that dissipates but retains. Nose is smoked malt, toffee, light rubber, smoked ham. Taste comprises a big malt load, toffee, smokey twang but not huge, brown sugar, brown bread dough. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, malt lead closure. Decent, not a huge amount of depth for the ABV but subtle smoke as per the other Spezial beers.

At Spezial brewery Bamberg. Dark brown beer lasting beige head. Strong malty bocky aroma. But with some brown malts as well. Bit of perfume on aroma too. It’s strong i can tell. No smoke. Just strong brown malt. Christ how strong is this tastes stronger than it probably is. It’s good but I wouldn’t want more than this. A bit like an old in the UK. But not sour. Full in mouth. Good

Bottle sample. Has a dark cloudy amber colour with a medium lasting beige head. Has a pleasant and balanced smoky and sweet aroma, almost like smoked meat. The flavour also feels pleasant with a medium to heavy smokyness, and more of the sweet smoked meat thats dominating this beer. The aftertaste is a bit sour and is lasting. Has a light and slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. Its naturally filled with smoke and is nice, but could maybe be richer and not so one dimensional.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light smoked malt with some dry caramel malt with light and subtle notes of residual sugar. Taste is also dominated by great caramel malt with light smoked malt notes and some light residual sugar notes. Body is lighter then expected with good carbonation. Easily drinkable without too much complexity and really not as much smoked malt as expected.
