Bottle, source not noted. Poured dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of toffee, yeast, molasses, dark fruit and biscuit. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft to average carbonation.

Cask at JDW Charlie Hall; I want to make a beer that pisses people off like morph in Tony Hart an interpretation of what’s real but is existential, who thinks Jessica Ennis is hot I do.

Cask at the George, Staines, 09/04/13. Clear copper amber with a thin off white head. Nose is toffee, sugars, Belgian yeast strains, dark stoned fruits (not high on Mary Jane !). Taste comprises dark fruits, butterscotch Angel Delight, brown sugars, toffee, brown bread, raisens. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, dryish finish. Ok but simply whelming !

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Golden amber with a tight white head; typical Belgian aroma - with some yeast and light spice; soft in the mouth with a satisfying, lightly malty body backed up fruit and coriander spiciness; then a dry, biscuity, finish. Rather good.

Cask at Willow Walk, London. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is grainy, hay, faint farmyard, underlying sweetness, spice and earth. The taste is initially sweet, pear, apple, fruit loaf, wood, leather and faint tartness with a dry, fruity finish. Medium body and lowish carbonation. Ok, but not really my thing.

Cask at the Willow Walk, JDW - London. Pours clear, deep gold with a light, foamy white head. Nice Belgian style beer, some toasty sugars, candi sugars, bread. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly sticky sweet finish, some more bready malts, candi sugars, mellow yeast. Pretty tasty stuff overall.

Cask in the JDW April 2013 Ale Festival. Deep golden with a creamy, sometimes frothy head. Has a full abbey blond aroma associated with this style and plenty of flavour to match in an ale texture.

2nd March 2011
Clear dark red - brown beer. Small off white head. Light palate, a little dry and a little crisp. Malt dominates, sweetish. Minerals, Sweet bubblegum on the back end and a trace of fruits. Dry finish. A bit clunky - very bubblegum dominated but drinkable.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before 30 Apr 2012, poured into two chalices in Sep 2011. Deep amber body with an off-white/cream coloured head, the head later producing some good solid lacing. The smell was of Belgian yeasts and malty sweet molasses. Caramel notes within the molasses, some ripe plums too. The taste was the same as the smell, yeasty, malty with sweet ripe plum like flavours being picked up. The taste and mouthfeel changes however and a refreshing, drier, bitterness arrives towards the end of each sip. Complex and well made, very drinkable, very drinkable indeed.
