This bottle, about 3 years old I think. It has time to breathe after opening whilst I scrub with detergent to get the sticky red wax of my hands! Fuck sake! Almost clear rich dark brown beer, only throws an incomplete and very thin tan head which is gone in a jiffy. Palate is slightly soft, has a reasonable fine carbonation and is mildly dry. Soft but rich dark malts, a soft and mildly tangy dark chocolate. The dominant flavour is a slightly bitterish coffee, spicy too. The Heaven Hill comes through at the back end, fairly strong and quite ripe with bourbon soaked bruised fruits. Finishes soft and slightly viscous and leaves a tingling spice and a warning glow after the swallow. Nice one. Could be a little sweeter for me, something to balance that bitterish coffee and bourbon. Also glad I left this for a few years, would readily take another two or three easily. All round, a fine beer.

Aroma: sweet, vanilla notes, caramel, sugary, some maple syrup, lots of dark chocolate, malty touch, ooh this smells very promising! MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: alcohol, sweet, caramel, lots of maple syrup, bitter touch, good roast, more alcohol. Aftertaste: bitter, roasted, slightly smoky, good roast, dry finish.

Bottle@1420, Copenhagen - Black pour with a tan head. Dark malty with some notes of chocolate, dark malty with some sweet caramel and toffee swetness, medium to full bodied, resonating bourbon into the dark malty finish.

750ml bottle, 2013 vintage, thanks to MrH! Who the hell thought it made sense to wax a C&C bottle? Dammit. Pours clear black, small tan head, dissipates fairly quickly but leaves nice residual and decent lacing. Aroma is bourbon, cocoa, vanilla. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, bourbon and mocha, hints of molasses as well. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Some ABV heat but otherwise quite solid.
