OLD ALE + OAK-AGED FOR 90 DAYS + WILD YEAST
This is the beer that started the brewery, a Wild beer, an untamed beast that thrives on the unpredictability of wild yeast and the subtlety and complexity of maturation in oak.

Wenig säuerlicher Antrunk mit dumpf malzigen Noten. Dumpf bleibend, starke Karbonisierung, leichter, eher nebensächlicher Nachhall. 11/11/9/10//10

Shared bottle at home. Pours dark reddish brown with thin pinkish head. Aroma of ripe dark fruits, vinegar, vanilla, sour milk, cherries. Taste sour and a little bitter, with some mild oak tones.

Bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of Flemish brown. Smells like a sour/wild tick to me. Tart red fruits, caramel, light funk, raisins and vinegar. Flavour is moderate sweet and over moderate sour with a slight burning acidic finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

300 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Caigny. BBF 10.11.2019. Very interesting beer / concept, clearly inspired by British brewing history, I have always been interested in trying something like this. Dark wood brown with a very dark amber hue, little tanned head. Nose is pleasant sour red wine, vinegar, balsamic vinegar, very sour dark cherries, puckering oak, sour malts with very light sweetness in the back. Taste is delicious red wine with plenty of pleasant vinegar, sour dark cherries, puckering red wine, cherry pits, red berries sour, plenty of red current,… Woody & faint coffee aftertaste. Low carbonation, thinned sour malts,… Basically a lovely Oud Bruin, highlighting the link of these beers with British brewing history. Wild Beer is very hit and miss for me, this is a clear hit. A touch watery which does lend it a high drinkability, finish caries a light sweetish Coca-Cola note which is a bit odd.

Draught @ Konttori. Aroma has tart berry juice tones and blackcurrants. Flavour has vinegar, red wine, sour berry juice and hints of licorice. Also woody tones and slightly sweet malt. Balanced, but these sour berry juices are not my thing.

330ml bottle. Dark reddish brown amber colour, creamy beige foam head leaving lots of lacing and aroma of woody oak, sour fruity, funk. Taste is marzipan, oaky vanilla, sour dark berry fruits, cherries, woody, funky, bittersweet. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry woody oaky finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle from Cocktails, Littleborough. Deep red-brown with a very thin head. Strong tasting with a fairly strong sourness too, with plenty of nose in this respect. Has a rich fruitiness with cherries certainly evident.
