Bottle. Almost black, opague. Malt, raisin and soft peaty notes in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with chocolate and peaty whisky. Hint of confit cherry even in the background. Chocolate. The peat isn’t too dominant and leaves some room for other flavors.

12oz bottle pours a viscuous, opaque brown/black with some clumping tan head. Nose has rubber, wood and industrial notes, there’s malt there, but a lot of mushroom and earthy notes too, super wet tobacco, something a little funky happening like manure. Flavor has more of the stout with caramel and malt, some salty barrel here too, wet wood, light peat, some port, dark chocolate, smoke, pencil lead. Full bodied and very complex finish. Smells like it’s going to be a booze bomb, but there is a lot to unpack here and this barrel gave its best.

Bottle at level 42 - cheers team! It pours cloudy dark brown with a beige head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, sweet vanilla, rocky road, sticky, syrupy, booze, dark chocolate and a hint of smoke. The taste is slick, bitter - sweet, sticky, rich roasted malt, burnt toast, coffee grounds, charred wood, dull smoke, wood and light warming alcohol with a drying and slightly spicy finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and slick mouth - feel. A bit drying after a while. Lacks the finesse than the other version of this.

Bottle split at L42, thanks to Leighton, 23/01/17. Black with a decent tan cap. Nose is light charr, spice, tangy dark fruits, toffee, oak, dates. Taste comprises black pepper, peated notes, dark malts, chocolate, toffee, subtle barrel. Full body, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok impy but perhaps a little too boosty and lacking finesse.

Farewell Bespin Bottleshare. Thanks to Leighton. Almost clear brown beer, no head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Mildly sweet and mellow dark malts. Modest dark chocolate. Peat is obvious but neither acrid nor overwhelming. Spice. Tangy fruits. Light dry spicy finish. For a peat whiskey beer this is quite approachable.

Bottle shared in London - sourced from Kris, I think. Pours oily black-brown with a creamy, tan head. The aroma holds plastic, peat, burnt wood, cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with rich, layered bitter dark chocolate and heavy peat, some ashy roast, some raisins, rubber. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with more rubber, peat, bittersweet chocolate, torched wood. Great peaty stuff.
