330ml bottle into glass. Excellent toffee malt nose, inviting. Bronze beer with solid white head. A few small bubbles. Mineral water freshness followed by caramel and banana. Late late bitterness. Really really good.

Brown 330ml bottle, best before June 2011, drank 1st June 2010. Poured into a Batemans half pint tumbler. Good old gold, rusty amber colour the head a dirty yellowed smokers fingered nicotine colour. The smell was all malt, fairly sweet malts at that, caramel and molasses. A yeast aroma becomes apparent as the beer warms in the glass, but no hop esters at all. The sweetness from the smell isn’t allowed to take over the taste, a hop bitterness sees to that, so no aroma hops, just bitter acid producing plants used? The best Aussie beer I’ve had since arriving on BA/RB? I think so, full bodied and interesting flavours made this a very drinkable little bottle.

Draught@Monks Porterhouse, Stockholm (As Gippsland Bitter). Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is berries, wood and some slight fruityness. Flavour is the same with a pleasant bitterness to it. Quite pleasant, even though it’s rather berryish in the flavour.

(Draught at Monk’s Porterhouse, Stockholm, 2 Nov 2010) Golden amber colour with creamy, beige head. Malty nose with bread, buttery malt and cream toffee. Malty, slightly fruity taste with notes of bready malt, butter, cream toffee and a mild citric bitterness in the finish. Light body, with a touch of sweetness. Nothing spectacular, but highly drinkable and quite tasty.

On tap at the White Horse, Parsons Green. Cloudy gold beer. Residual white head. Dry palate. Dry malt with a touch of honey and some very unwelcome sulphur. Minerals. A bit of orange hop and a mildly bitter aftertaste. Finishes dry. Drinkable depite the suphur.

Tap at the White Horse Pub, London. Pours a light, hazy amber with a soft, white head. Delicate hop aroma with some bread. Lightly sweet, with ome grass and herbal bitterness. Light to medium in body with soft carbonation. Finihses with pale, bready malts and light, herby hops. Perhaps a little above average.

Pours dark amber with a small head.Nose is extraordinarily malty, with loads of caramel, toffee and butterscotch.Similarly malty flavours before a challenging bitterness rolls through. Unfortunately its quite dull and almost metallic (the bitterness that is). Malt character is great though.A bit too watery.

From a 330ml bottle on 17/5/2010. Has a slight but distinct burnt toffee aroma. In the mouth, it’s an unusual combination of sweet malt, spice and citrus, capped off by some quite firm and long hop action. This has quite a distinctive character, but is not a complete success.

Bottle. Slightly muddy amber, rapidly dissipating light-beige head. Somewhat earthy aroma, with some toasted caramel and fruit malts. Slightly resiny hops, too. Taste is fruity and mildly sweet, body medium. Finish is quite dry and slightly excessively carbonated.
