Beer #1 (of 19) of my 9000th Beer Celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself] Super dark brown coloured body with a thick, but fairly fast-dying tan and light brown head that starts at about three centimetres tall but fades to just a single centimetre after a few seconds. Aroma of super deep and strong, robust and pungent alcohol, chocolate, raspberries and a good deal of beef jerky oatmeal, prunes, mushrooms and earth - very strong in the nose and perhaps more of the deep and pungent notes than the sweet ones. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich raspberry and chocolate flavours that really do end up tasting like a liquid version of a raspberry truffle (chocolate) than anything else with some vanilla, cream, lactose and earthy notes with a lot of chocolate and dry crisp malt notes that end this nicely with the deep tartness from the fruits too - strong and pungent in a good way but the bitter and earthy notes aren't here - which is a good thing. Aftertaste shows the raspberries, the tartness, a lot of chocolate and a good deal of pungency from the alcohol, malt and oatmeal with some bitterness here of course, but the sweetness and fruit flavours provide some relief and bring out a nice complexity, especially at the end. Overall, a very nice, robust, pungent and flavourful, complex kick of raspberries, chocolate, earth, malts and alcohol all coming together in a tightly integrated package that seems to have done some nice time mellowing out in the bottle and perhaps would have done even better for another year or two without a degrade in the complexity here. I sampled this wax-sealed, 500 mL bottle, purchased from Mac's Beer and Wine in Atlanta, Georgia on 26-May-2018 in Midtown Atlanta for US$10,29 (2017 Release) sampled at my house here in Washington for Beer #1 (of 19) of my 9000th beer celebration [9 beers on both sides of #9000th itself].

Fruit stout with chocolate truffles apparently, from Terrapin in Athens, Georgia. Thanks to sebletitje for sharing. Large-bubbled and loose, mocha beige, open head over a black beer with hazy burgundy edges. Aroma of bitter chocolate (much more than the sweet milk chocolate I would associate with chocolate truffles), soy sauce, fried oyster mushrooms, green tree leaves and green coffee beans, red raspberries (even a ‘raspberry bush’ effect), balsamico, walnut. Sweetish fig- and dried prune-like impressions with a pronounced but very enjoyable umami effect (soy sauce) as well as the inevitable sour raspberry tone; soft carb, full, oily body. Nutty and toffeeish malt profile which shifts over chocolatey towards coffeeish but does not become heavily roasted bitter; a ‘green’ effect colours the finish while a softly tart raspberry effect as well as some raspberry fructose sweetness keep accompanying the palate. Chocolatey malts enhanced by the chocolate truffles linger in the background, highlighted by bourbon-ish, warming alcohol. Typical experimental U.S. style craft stout, interesting and enjoyable, but still it feels as if the contrasting flavours here seem to clash a bit – as is so often the case in fruit stouts and fruit porters.

Bouteille 50cl de Total Wine Tampa, anno 2017, bought there in Feb 2018.

2/III/19 - 500ml bottle @ Tim's Tremendous Taco Tasting, BB: n/a, 2017 vintage - (2019-335) Thanks to Sebletitje for sharing the bottle!
Clear dark brown to black beer, small irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots and lots of coffee, raspberry jam, green coffee, dusty, oysters. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: surprisingly acidic, raspberry jam, bit sugary, lots of coffee, soft roast, bitter. Aftertaste: bit sweet, lots of roast, bitter, some dark chocolate, bit sourish, bitter finish, more raspberry. The raspberry and coffee clash too much for me…

2017 reserve shared by someone on 10.13.18.
Dark mahogany, unclear, with a tan head that fades to a ring.
Raspberry truffles and vanilla liqueur are aromatic but not all that deep or complex. Light ash and black patent malt. No booze at least but no real malt complexity or depth.
Ashen malts and grape-raspberry jelly. Sweet, sticky, fudgey and just...ashy. Low, somewhat loose carbonation. Not boozey though and the raspberry tastes good, albeit heavily jammy. Peppery, seedy raspberry and ash lingers.

500 ml bottle paid $19.99 at Beer Store Philadelphia, PA. 2017 vintage. Dark brown beer, ruby highlights. Aroma shows raspberry purée, cocoa, weak coffee. Flavor has strong raspberries, mild chocolate, the coffee has falling off a bit. Mostly berries. Mouthfeel is good.

$12.39 wax-sealed bottle from Greenwood Gourmet Grocery. Pours thick and black (with a reddish tint when poured) with a soft brown head. Aroma is fresh raspberry, milk chocolate, lightly roasted coffee beans. Flavor is bittersweet raspberry, sweet milk chocolate, dark chocolate, a bit of coffee in the med-back end mixing with the raspberry with a long lingering dark chocolate/berry finish.
