Sample from bottle at Remko's bierproefavond. Didn't take notes, just enjoyed the beers and good company. As always a great slow sipper.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 33B: bourbon barrel, base: 20C). Bottle 45 cl - Batch GI 08:15 (BB: 02OCT28) AROMA: medium-high boozy aroma with notes of bourbon barrel. medium background notes of vanillin, wood and dark malts (dark chocolate) with a bourbon-characteristic sweet touch. slight dark cherries. APPEARANCE: very dark brown to black color and opaque without highlights. legs formation. medium brown head with low retention. TASTE: initial medium maltiness (chocolate, dried prunes) and medium-high bourbon. slight red fruits note. initial apparent low bitterness that evolves into medium-low. finishes semi-dry to dry with a slight roasty finish. MOUTHFEEL: high body with velvety texture. medium-low carbonation. excessive alcoholic warmth (hot sensation). OVERALL: a complex bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with a bit too much alcoholic strength making it a bit difficult to drink.
Magus, vanilje, happeline, röst, kohv. Ok

Opaque deep brown to black with a small tan head of good retention. Toast & roast, chocolate, coffee, subtle oak barrel, dried fruits, prunes,. Distant hop. Warming alcohol. Everything having amazing balance and quality. No regret for every single cent paid given it has been smuggled across the ocean.
Happeline, röstine, linnaseline, šokolaad. Ok.

330ml bottle @ monthly beer share, July 2020. Excellent grainy chocolatey wonder. Have only tried the Monks cafe version before. Good to try the 14.7% original.

330ml bottle @ monthly share, Chez Sophie, April 2022. My only comments about this is "yes yes lovely stuff" which is enough for me.

Bottle, 2021, 14%. Color: Black, thin beige head. Aroma: Bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt. Taste: Roasted malt, mocha, hints of chocolate. Very nicely combined with Bourbon, vanilla and boozy notes from the BA. Medium sweet, moderate to medium bitterness. Great balance, nice complexity. Creamy and warming mouthfeel. Full body, soft carbonation. Great beer.

500ml bottle. Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived, fizzy tan head. The aroma is roasty, warm boozy bourbon. The flavour is strong sweet and liquorice bitter, with a silky smooth, rich, roasty, oily, chocolate, light vanilla, oaky, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Full bodied with average to soft carbonation.
